I have a 2001 Columbia par car electric. Both rear wheel bearings finally failed. I found your video and replaced the bearings in no time doing it the same way you did. The adjustable wrench technique to remove bearings from axle was superb. Thank you.

You don't need a puller. All you had to do was turn your brake drum around backwards and put the nut on it and hit the drum and it will pull the axle out....

Thank you for this video. I have had no previous experience with golf cart maintenance and this was extremely helpful. My family had purchased a used golf cart, the rear wheel had been making some grinding noise from day one

Tell ya something Bud...this is a great vid. Not everyone has presses and seal installation tools and such at home. But we want to do these sort of repairs ourselves. You showed everyone how a bit of home ingenuity can save them a ton of cash. Thanks very much.

Thanks so much for your video, I just finished replacing both rear axles, bearings & seals, and hubs on my golf cart.....couldn’t have done it without your procedure, my cart’s like new now and doesn’t make a sound!

The good pair of snap ring pliers cost more than $7 pal. I will say that I wouldn’t do the job without having them. Having a pair of snap ring pliers is a good investment.

Was there a pin or locking clip in the differential holding the axle in or was it just pressed in?

What was the bearing kit part number you purchased? Also was this the outer bearing or inner bearing? Assuming its the outer?

you should never hit a new bearing like this and you never "drive it in" by the outside race. always use the inner race when pressing your bearing in(depending on the bearing) bearing in a hub like the front you press in using the outside race

Exactly. I was cringing when he was pounding on the outer race.

Right. I bet the new bearing is junk by now. By no means was it the right method but he could have just tightened the adjustable a little. And his interpretation of the “old School” way is apparently just the wrong way that may get the job done.

Quick question, after getting the new bearing on axle, does bearing spin jerky, mine is not smooth after installing, not sure if these aren’t the right bearings or if it’s normal for them to feel jerky and not spin smoothly?

I mean isn't the old school way of doing it using the right tool for the job. I appreciate innovative work arounds for proprietary tools, but snap ring pliers are cheap and worth using.

  • @gwernette5971

You don't want to go with the cheap snap ring pliers because these inner snap rings are larger diameter, and require a lot of tension
