Electric 6.5 Ton WEN Log Splitter vs 13" Log (Who Will Win?)
In this episode of Wandering Wagners Mike tested a WEN 6.5 ton Electric Log Splitter against a big wood pile with some oversized logs. Who will win? Will the electric log splitter get the job done?
This log splitter we purchased off of Amazon and it cost around $300. Here is a link if you want to check it out yourself: amzn.to/3LI6sam
It was easy to put together, especially since I didn't plant to use the stand that came with it. The instructions were easy to follow, and actually had some humor in them! That was a welcomed change.
Once set up, I took it outside and put it to the test. I started our small and it handled those smaller logs with ease. I stepped it up and it did well with each and every log I gave it! I was VERY impressed! There were a few logs that were too long, so obviously I had to go shopping to buy a new Chainsaw and battery from .
Milwaukee Electric Chainsaw: amzn.to/3x1YzZ3
Battery: amzn.to/3qZMBv8
The next day I tried out the chainsaw and was very impressed with it as well. Overall I had a productive, expensive weekend and give both the Electric 6.5 ton WEN Electric Log Splitter a thumbs up, and the chainsaw a thumbs up! They are perfect for at home occasional use.
Lynn is still working her refueling outage so she wanted to give a small update and let everyone know she's still alive and well after 5 weeks of 12hr nights 7 nights a week shifts!
Soon we will be back out on the road and enjoying camping once again.
Until next time, See ya!

Have a nice Husqvarna saw and a big huge Stihl. I’d love to have one of those 16” Makita battery saws over dealing with those two when I need a saw. Maybe just me. Don’t use a saw that often-we don’t do much firewood. So it’s for around the yard stuff and emergencies and hunting a camping. The electric would work better for me.

I have had the DR 6 ton electric splitter for 10+ years. Works great on pine and soft hardwoods. Oak over about 6”-7” diameter bog down. For those I split with wedges and a sledge. Once they are broken down the splitter can handle them.

Yes if I needed a chain saw or a log splitter I would definitely look at an electric one, a whole lot less maintenance. I don't know what kind of oil you run in the Wraith but I take a friend of mine drain oil from my bike (20W50) and my truck (5W20) and he uses it for bar oil. He cuts wood for a living and he's not gentle on any kind of machinery but he says the drain oil works fine. Just something to think about. Keep the good stuff coming.

The Wen 6.5-ton log splitter is a waste of money. All the videos I have seen all are splitting “straight grain wood”. Come on really? Most all the wood I get for free is Not Straight Grain Wood! The last load of wood that I split with my Wen 6.5-ton splitter was sycamore 10 to 15” rounds. Both the wings broke off the log cradle and the oil started to leak out the back handle. The frame that supports the splitter kept leaning over and fell over numerus times. Even on a concrete pad or driveway the unit was very unstable. The two arms that pull the log into the wedge, bend, cutting down the power to do the split. In the Real World this splitter is not worth the money.
