Electric 12V Two Stage Inflatable Pump Tear Down

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Let's look inside one those electric two stage inflatable air pumps that are used to pump up boats, SUPs, kayaks, kites, etc. to see the components inside, how they work, and possible service items to be aware of.

Thanks for info. I have one of the more expensive pumps, but it finally started acting up. Good to have a better insight on working principles before i tear into it. I love kiting, but have always hated the pumping. My first year, I actually schlepped a portable pressure tank. Don't have a great excuse of hand pump cracking in cold. for buying the electric..... I'm just lazy.

You bet. I don't think there are any lazy kiteboarders, those two words likely don't coexist together. Let's just say we want to get out on the water sooner to chase the wind over wasting time & energy bobbing up and down on a pump handle like a drinking bird toy. 🙂

John, thanks for this. Curious if you would mind doing a how-to video showing what parts are needed and where to source the Lipo batteries if you were trying to replace a 12v 9ah Lead Acid battery (like the ones in the Bravo 20-1 Kite Pump). I'm a newb at electronics, so any info would be super helpful. THANKS, and good winds!

Hi John. I have the 2 stage version of this pump. It stopped working and struggles to fire up the turbine in stage 1. When it does fire up, stage 2 doesn’t kick in to pump air and makes a buzzing noise. Had my battery checked and reads 13V. What do you think might be the issue? Thanks

Sorry, no idea without taking it apart and testing the individual components (bad motor, bad control board, other)?

@@Rchelicopterfun how would you go about testing the individual components? Any places you can recommend I go to to have it checked out?
