Election According to Jesus

Dr. Leighton Flowers presents a short explanation of Jesus's parable of the Wedding Banquet in Matthew 22.
There are several divine choices made by God to bring about redemption.
1) The election of the nation that the king ruled over in the parable (representing Israel)
2) The election of the servants from that nation to deliver the wedding invitations (representing prophets/apostles).
3) The election of those who would receive the invitations (representing the message going first to the Jews and then to the Gentiles)
4) The election to permit those properly clothed in wedding garments to enter (representing those clothed in Christ’s righteousness by faith)
The moral of Christ’s parable was, “Many are called, but few are elect” (v. 14). In other words, many are “unconditionally” invited by “unconditionally” elected servants from an “unconditionally” elected nation.
- The nation was not chosen because it was more moral or more deserving (i.e. “unconditional”)
- The servants from that nation were not selected because they were more moral or more deserving. (i.e. “unconditional”)
- And the invitations were not sent to people because they were more moral or deserving. (i.e. “unconditional”)
- The invitation (WORD) was brought to the world through a nation (and individually selected servants from that nation). This is what Christ is referencing when he says, “many are called.”
What does Christ mean by “few are elect?” Clearly, this is in reference to those conditionally permitted entrance into the banquet based upon their being properly clothed in the right wedding garments. The King elects to permit those rightly clothed to come in while the rest are cast out. Likewise, God will only permit those clothed in the righteousness of Christ to enter heaven. The “few” who are “elect” were clearly conditionally chosen based upon their garments (the righteousness of Christ). This is the foundational understanding of “corporate election to salvation.” We are elect only insofar as we are connected with Christ (clothed in His righteousness).
This parable, like Romans 9, includes all of the King’s choices, not just the last one. In other words, the parable involves not only the King’s choice to grant or deny an individual’s entrance into the banquet, but also the King’s choices in fulfilling his purposes through his own nation and those individual servants selected to deliver the invitations. Likewise, Paul, in Romans 9, has all of these divine choices well in view.

So you believe that the Sovereign Lord looks down the corridors of time and elects based upon the “free will” of man? In other words- man chooses God first and then God elects them based upon their faith? Please put forth two or three Scriptures which teach your doctrine so I can better understand your theology. Let’s examine your statement mainly that the elect are chosen by God because they are clothed in Christs righteousness. It sounds like you are putting forth the idea that man has the ability to believe in the Gospel first and then God reacts to man’s free will of choosing Him by electing him. Is this true? I begin with the Scriptures. Paul argues that God “loves Jacob” and “hates Esau” BEFORE either one of them did anything good or bad. Believing in the Gospel is a good thing, (wouldn’t you agree?). And if believing is good (which it is) then it follows that God chose Jacob BEFORE he believed the Gospel because it says, “though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls-“ Romans‬ ‭9‬:‭11‬ ‭ESV Gods Sovereign unconditional election which takes place in eternity past is FIRST and happens prior to regeneration and saving faith. So your statement “not clothed in the righteousness of Christ because they are chosen” turns the Scriptures upside down. You are the objector in Romans 9. I will be happy to prove that you and all Arminians are the objectors in Romans 9 if you would like to return. Repent of believing in a false gospel - in a false god - in a false Jesus- in a false holy spirit and believe the one and only true Gospel preached by Jesus and His apostles.

I have to believe God actually really truly wants and desires wholeheartedly for everyone to believe the gospel, or else i cant really have any assurance. Because there are people who fall away or are tares among wheat(false converts). If God chooses some to believe and others not to believe then it would stand to reason he chooses some to be false converts. With all the doubts and backsliding ive done, and my serious thoughts of wanting to not believe sometimes; if thats coming from God then there is no hope for me. But if God is actually truly for me, and He truly desires for me to believe, then i actually CAN admit my own wicked heart of unbelief in departing from the living God, and it means that i truly am able to repent and believe. Im not fighting God to get to Him, He's striving with me to get me to realize that i really do need Him.

Marius VanWoerden Calvin’s Geneva was a microcosm of the influence of the Catholic Church over Europe. You could say that the pope had no authority to arrest and detain or execute anyone, either, because the countries of Europe, the duchies, the municipalities had their own governing bodies, princes, monarchs making the decisions. So for you to suggest that Calvin was freeing Europe from the tyranny of the papists is playing both sides; either Calvin had authority that he exerted over against the Catholic Church, or he had no authority and neither did the Catholic Church.

Marius VanWoerden servetus was captured by the inquisition because Calvin told them where he was; Calvin was in cahoots with the Catholics. Yet Servetus escaped. In August 1553 Servetus visited Geneva, and was promptly arrested for having challenged Calvins Institutes, which were regarded by law as infallible in Geneva. Servetus had previously been given a copy of the institutes by Calvin and had written corrections in the margins before sending it back to Calvin. This enraged Calvin and he swore that if Servetus ever entered Geneva he would no leave alive. Servetus was found guilty of being an heretic by the Geneva council. Although Calvin did ask for beheading rather than burning, he accepted the condemnation of Servetus. After the burning Calvin gleefully revelled in the attacks that were made against him for it, stating: “Many people have accused me of such ferocious cruelty that (they allege) I would like to kill again the man I have destroyed. Not only am I indifferent to their comments, but I rejoice in the fact that they spit in my face.” Elsewhere Calvin said, “Whoever shall now contend that it is unjust to put heretics and blasphemers to death will knowingly and willingly incur their very guilt.” Calvin Himself takes credit proudly for destroying Servetus. I’ve learned by engaging in discussions with you that your view of history is heavily biased; my guess is you read reformed propaganda exclusively and deliberately so as to avoid the inconvenience of truth.

I didn't hear a "totality of scripture" presented here. He failed to mention such passages of scripture where jesus says that one must be born again before he can enter the kingdom of God (Jn 3:3); that those who believe are not born of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (Jn 1:12, 13); that the decision of God to whom He will show mercy is not of him who wills it, nor of him who runs, but of God (Ro 9:15, 16) (and one cannot pretend that Paul is here speaking of nations, for in the very next verse he references the individual, Pharaoh, and a statement made by God to him alone in Exodus); and many others littered throughout the NT, not mention all of the statements found in the OT. the evidence is overwhelming that man has no part to play in his salvation or in his election. The responsibility of men is to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, because it is God who works in them both to will and to do of his good pleasure. I hope this helps in your search for the truth. The answers are very present if one but seeks earnestly with a sincere heart to know the truth. Love in Christ.

@@brianrush7065 all the scripture passages you cite have context, and removing them from those respective contexts like you are doing creates confusion. No orthodox Christian believes he/she has any work to do in salvation, as the Bible is clear salvation is all God's work. The problem lies with the false dichotomy presented by Calvinism that God's sovereign will excludes man's ability to choose, the very ability endowed upon him by His Creator. Your view of God's sovereignty is that for Him to be sovereign means He must exercise absolute control, but such a view is shortsighted and fails to grasp the provisional aspect of sovereignty. You believe it steals from God's glory to suggest that man can choose or reject God's gift of salvation, but the Bible teaches that God is most glorified when He causes all the good and bad consequences of man's choices to work together and glorify Himself...without dictating it all. THAT...is what sovereignty means. Who is more powerful? A god that must dictate the whims and choices of people as though they are puppets, or THE God who can bestow upon His creation the ability to choose, then work through, around, and with those choices, and ultimately cause it all to glorify Himself? Now I know that by stripping a portion of Romans 3 from its context (and some other passages as well), you're going to retort that man is incapable of choosing God, but this is because you fail to understand the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul leads off his whole letter to the Romans with the declaration of the gospel's power to save people (Rom. 1:16-17), thus setting the context for the rest of the letter. Paul goes on to say that man (even in his fallen state) is "without excuse (Rom. 1:18-19)" if he fails to respond to God's glorious gift of salvation, because the gospel is powerful enough to bring awareness even to a soul under the death sentence of sin. Only proof-texted scripture can lead to the conclusion that man is incapable of responding to God. Moving into Romans 2 (by the way, what we're doing is called exegesis), Paul declares in verses 15-16 that man's conscience is further proof of 1) God's existence and 2) man's ability to respond to him. You and I both know "good people" who are not Christians. By "good", I mean they don't commit acts of atrocity. They don't murder, steal, or even lie. They are of high moral character, but they're as spiritually lost as a goose, because the "righteous standard" Paul mentions in Romans 3 that they must measure up to is not man's, but God's. But the fact that they have the ability to make good, moral choices is proof that they are capable of responding to God's gift of salvation once they hear the good news, because "faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ." (Rom. 10:17) Thus, the sin-bound heart becomes capable of responding to God. I know you've been formulating your response while you've been reading this, so I challenge you to go back and read it again before you respond. But please take your Augustinian glasses first, turn off the John Piper podcast playing in the background, and sincerely ask God if there is some truth you're not hearing from the Calvinistic echo chamber in which you live. You asked rlbisme to search with a sincere heart, so it's only fair if you do the same. Love in Christ.

I was once agnostic and probably leaned more towards atheism to be honest....I was often surrounded by many professing Christian people and even sat through church sermons completely unmoved....Through a series of events, at the age of 42, I hit rock bottom. In the bedroom of my home, I reached out to a God that I didn't even believe in. In that very moment God's spirit fell upon me and it was as if a bucket of ice water had been thrown on me! It took my breath away! God "literally" spoke to me that day! Very specific words that were spoken from somewhere within me. I was confused about my life's circumstances but God was pointing me to Christ. That experience changed my life and it changed me from the inside out.....What happened that day wasn't something that I did. God did that! I am completely humbled as to why on earth He "chose" me that morning but "He" did! I have seen MANY others seek after God "including myself" and seemingly nothing at all happen in their lives. I don't understand it all but am searching for truth....I don't consider myself to be a hard lined Calvinist but I have come to believe there is a degree of truth within Calvinism.....Not from what I've been taught but from my experiences.

We take a step, but God completes the work. Whoever seeks will find Him. God hears us when we pray and cry out to Him. He didn't randomly choose to save us more than our neighbor. He wants all men to be saved. However, God gave us the free will to choose this day whom we will serve, setting before us life and death, blessing and curse. We can either accept or reject Jesus. God will let us make our choice. Not because He's not all powerful, but because He wants us to love him with all our heart, mind, and soul. He is the one who can give us a new heart and when we become born again we are no longer slaves to sin. Our flesh is still at war with the Holy Spirit within us, but we can now pick up our cross and die daily to sin. We become God's children. Grafted into the vine. Not because we deserve it but because He loves us. And we can then love because He first loved us. Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, Joshua 24:15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

MtBikeJockey, you did exactly what the Bible says to do to be saved. That is not the unbiblical doctrine of God arbitrarily choosing you for salvation, which is what Calvinism teaches and the fruit of which is religious pride. You sincerely and humbly cried out to the Lord and He answered. You came to the end of yourself and had nothing else left that you could do at all, except to appeal to God's promise in exactly the way he calls us to. We usually don't understand it theologically when it happens and if you happen to come across calvinist's teaching explaining why your experience was that way you're going to latch on to that as the truth. Except that's exactly how the false Holy spirit in Calvinism works to deceive immature Christians into becoming Calvinists. Nobody gets saved by Calvinism--it is a parasite within Christianity which recruits converts from immature, intellectually carnal genuine Christians and the religiously prideful false convert alike. It leads genuine Christians into aposty and false converts into a stronger cage of false religion. As a new, immature, or even just unspiritual Christian, It is easy to be led astray by wolves in sheep's clothing because you do have a humble heart and are desperately seeking an explanation for what is happening to you, but that also makes you a prime candidate for deception. Rather than going after John MacArthur sermons directed at his cult or being discipled by another unspiritual Christian or outright false convert, you need to first be discipled by the Holy Spirit. You need that intimacy and fellowship with the Holy Spirit to learn to hear The Shepherd's voice and grow in faith and trust in the Holy Spirit so that you aren't led astray by ungodly teaching and other spirits, other shepherds, thieves in the night. So what I would encourage you to do first and foremost is seek the Holy Spirit and exercise that faith muscle to grow strong and obedient--learn to walk with the Spirit and hear His voice. Pray, study your Bible, and commune constantly with the Spirit. If the Holy Spirit tells you to go lay hands on a random person at the grocery store and pray for them to be healed, you humble yourself and do it, you believe they will be healed, and they will. Learn to hear the Holy Spirit in the moment and to act in obedience on it. Then find a Spirit-filled mentor to disciple you that actually has the genuine fruits of the spirit and can be a spiritual father to you even if they're younger than you are. If they are actually Spirit-led, they won't lead you into deception or make you follow them as their cult leader. But the single biggest thing that the church today is missing is intimacy with the Holy Spirit and it's why so many get led astray. We're a body of Christ that is 99.99% carnal Christians who are still soulish--intellectually carnally minded with no ear for the Holy Spirit.

For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”- for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

I love Dr. Flowers and I am praying that if I'm wrong about Calvinism that I would be corrected by God as I study his word. I didn't start out this way; in fact, I hated the doctrine of election. But once I did accept it, everyone around me, including my wife, lost faith in me. If I'm wrong about calvinism I'll repent of it. I just haven't found anything else that makes sense. I'm not a smart man, so I don't put faith in my own understanding. I'm trying to trust God and let him lead.

Predestination and election are both inseparable from the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery of the Gospel. Follow the True Jesus of the Bible! Know the Doctrine Of Christ! It is The Doctrine Of Christ that Paul uses to bring Us (THE CHURCH), unto the unity of the faith, also in whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named! Don't fall for the great lie that Jesus bought the ordained false prophets with His Precious Blood. No, Jesus openly and publicly called these people out for who they truly were! They were of their father the devil! Jesus can't lie! You must first learn the Doctrine Of Christ. Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus; for He shall save His People from their sins. Jesus called these religious leaders out for who they truly were. And Jesus straight up told these evil men that they were not His sheep. And still these false prophets and the many that follow them are speaking evil of The Way Of The Truth (Jesus), All in the name of John Calvin!

"The" many are called, but "a" few are chosen. What choice did Peter have when he was "called"? (Naw, man I'd rather be a fisherman.) What choice did Paul have? (Naw, Lord, I'm not sure it's really you.) Good job to Dr. Flowers for taking on this parable, which in fact does have everything to do with election, and has the primary meaning of contrasting the two covenants, old and new. But all parables work on many levels.

Sounds like you are boasting in man’s free will. You seem to believe that “saving faith” is produced within the human heart, as if entering the banquet is man’s free will choice. Your teaching along with Flowers- is exactly the opposite of what the Scriptures teach. Saving faith is the gift of God and no one can come to Jesus Christ (which means believing in Jesus) unless the Father draws him (which means regenerates the human heart/ circumcision of the heart) [see John 6:44]. There is no boasting in believing in the sovereign unconditional election of God. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Your teaching of man’s free will is absolutely “boasting” in the works of man. Repent and believe the Gospel!

You define the biblical word “grace” as the power to overcome. Once again you define biblical words incorrectly. There is no Greek scholar that would ever define it as you do. You can’t just define biblical words any way you feel like. Strongs defines χάρις= grace as Definition: grace, kindness Usage: (a) grace, as a gift or blessing brought to man by Jesus Christ, (b) favor, (c) gratitude, thanks, (d) a favor, kindness. The biblical grace especially here in Ephesians 2:8 is God pouring out saving grace an unmerited favor of saving His elect by granting the gift of grace and faith, and this gift of saving grace and saving faith is NOT a result of human works in any way, shape or form. No one is arguing that the conquerors are conquering by election. Why are you trying to make it sound like I believe this? This is called a “straw man argument”. No one believes that the believer works out his own salvation with fear and trembling by election. Your question is nonsensical. It’s a straw man argument. And no one believes that the virgins are wise by election. Straw man argument- your points are ridiculous. You are not arguing against sovereign unconditional election. The righteous live by faith in the Son of God. This is what we believe and what we teach and what we defend. How Jehovah brought me from death to life is of no concern. All that matters is the Gospel. Flowers is a false teacher and you should heed the words of Christ and run from him. Let’s discuss Romans 9 and sovereign unconditional election and reprobation because this is the dividing line

Paul says -We Are to go thru many hardships to inherit the kingdom of God , as he declared we all will acts 14:22, so this is the Christian life. If you don’t live like that, you’re not doing it correctly and you’re getting it backwards cause heaven is when we get to kick back and do what we want to do, right now we’re to serve the Lord with fervor. So witness to 3 to 5 people a day, put a number on it between you and God, and do the great commission not a great omission. Matthew 28:16-20 This will strengthen your faith Also! if you’re faithful w small things you’ll be faced with bigger things later, as Jesus said. ! Store up treasures in heaven for yourselves. You cannot go back in time, so forget about the past and go now and be bold and God will be with you Making you stronger in him ! Good morning, Dr. Flowers. Last week, in your "Biblical Election: 3 Views" video, you said Pharaoh and Judas were elect. How do they fit into the narrative presented in this video? Were they the elect of God, spoken of by Paul throughout the New Testament, and therefore saved? Are they in Heaven? Also, could we get some references for who, throughout church history, taught this "4 types of election" perspective on the Wedding Banquet in Matthew 22 and where it was taught? Also, you say here in this video that the 4th choice (presumably by God, and presumably unto salvation) is unconditional. But in your "Unconditional Choice?" video (6/1/19), you say that salvation IS conditioned, and that the condition that must first be met is that we exercise faith ("We must believe"). I'm a little confused on this point as well. Thanks!!

John is speaking of the Devine nature we received when we were saved ("His seed") . It's the "Perfected forever.." of Heb. 10:4, and the "It is no longer I who sin..." from Paul in Rom. 7:14-25. Some translations erroneously add extra terms into the passage like "continue sinning" and "practices sinning", but the tense is present without continual action.

Augustinas Pucinskas As Christians we are under the law of Christ.... Gal 6: 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Jesus gave Commandments of love.... Jhn 13: 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Jhn 15: 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 11 ¶ These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. That’s what I believe John is speaking of in 1Jhn.... 1Jhn 3: 10 ¶ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 16 ¶ Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24 ¶ And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. This is what Jesus will judge the world by.... Matt 25: 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 ¶ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 ¶ Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: (1Jhn 3: 17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 ¶ My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.) So if we don’t love the brethren, we are sinning. That’s the law we are under. Rather than following the letter of the law, we follow the Spirit which God has given to those who are His.... Gal 5: 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 ¶ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 ¶ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. The entire old covenant law is done away with if you’re in Christ. We follow the Spirit instead. It’s all about love... Rom 13: 8 ¶ Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. 2Cor 3: 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 ¶ But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12 ¶ Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 1Tim 1: 5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. 8 ¶ But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; I believe that this is the sin that John was speaking of. God bless.

Some people of the day thought by sinning more, they could be forgiven more or be given more grace. Verse 4 and 7 speak of practicing sin, we're not to be practicing sin. On the flip side, 1 John 1:8 says "If we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves." If we slip up, we have an advocate. It's the people who were practicing sin, who supposedly called themselves believers, who were the problem.

so listening to Layton flowers, describe his interpretation of the Scriptures, which I thank you for not sure if I totally agree or not but I do have a question that question is what about Romans nine you didn’t really answer the question about Jacob and Esau you kind of inferred that Esau I didn’t love so much, but Jacob I loved a lot more, and that could be very well be with a literal translation of that text reads. The question I have is, was it not God’s divine election, his sovereign decision, that Jacob or Esau had no part in influencing the outcome. In the passage out of Romans nine, Paul tells the man who asks his questions and challenges God‘s privilege in a divine selection “what are you oh man?” another way of phrasing that question is who do you think you are to challenge the decision the choice, the selection, the conclusion, and the outcome of what God wanted. Another question would be, “who do you think you are”

Danny- you are definitely understanding Paul’s argument of sovereign unconditional election and reprobation in Romans 9. The objector in Romans 9 is Leighton Flowers and anyone who rejects this doctrine. God loved Jacob and hated Esau in eternity past BEFORE they did anything good or bad. God chooses to mercy His elect and He chooses to harden the reprobate. Flowers will never defend his heresy because he can’t - the Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword.

Soverign unconditional election and reprobation is based solely on God’s choice in eternity past and is never conditioned on something the creature does or doesn’t do. As it is written “though they (Jacob whom God loved and Esau whom God hated) were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls-” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭9‬:‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬ This false teacher (Flowers) turns the Scriptures upside down and just like Satan, he changes the Words of God to mean the exact opposite of what God has said.

In your statement of faith it says that repentance is a genuine turning from sin. Can you explain you views on this? Is it the condition and if so, how can you turn from what you are? The cross takes care of that in my view of scripture. Or do you mean the act of sinning in which case: 1 John 3:4 [4]Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. That would be front loading works to the Gospel. My BLB say repent is translated from metanioa and it means "Change of mind". I only see repent and believe once in the Bible and Im not thoroughly convinced that this verse is just about salvation, but it may have to do with the Jews killing their messiah and the availability of the Kingdom coming at that time.

One of the biggest clues that a certain interpretational view is incorrect, without needing to look at the contradictory nature of the claims, is to look at how its followers carry themselves when addressed with concerns. If the majority, if not all, of its followers, always address objections to their interpretation with hostility, arrogance, double speak, and evading logical and theological concerns, you know that they are taught to avoid those questions and objections without questioning why. This happens almost exclusively in Calvinism. Constant evading of the questions, arrogance in regards to believing that alll other Christians not properly understanding scripture, and remaining forthright even when you know there is a contradiction present, or even not wanting to accept that there are contradictions present. I see this inherent with almost every calvinist I come across. There are quite a few exceptions to the rule, but almost all Calvinists try to avoid the possibility that their interpretation of scripture might actually be wrong, both on scriptural grounds and logical grounds. When they engage in this behavior, they are no longer serving the lord, they are serving themselves. The Lord wants us to be more Learners than teachers, so all Christians are required to humble themselves and be meek in their approach to scripture because the Lord might one day look down on the Calvinists and say that whereas they have done a good job they were teaching something that was not biblical. They are adamant that they are right no matter what the charge, and that's how you can tell that something is false if the person will adamantly continue to cling to something being true regardless of how much you show concern to the opposite. That's one of the reasons why I will never be a calvinist.

4120, you ask a very interesting question. False doctrine such as Free will theology taught my Flowers and all Arminians believe that salvation is conditioned on man’s free will choice. Therefore, someone can live in unbelief and lawlessness their entire life and in their final moment they can just believe in Jesus and make a last second choice by their free will and they’ll make it into heaven. This man centered free will gospel is from the pit of hell and is satanic. The Bible teaches that every time someone hears the Gospel it does does one of two things. 1) It saves the elect, for the Gospel is the power of God to save everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Gentile. (Romans 1:16) or 2) it hardens the reprobate non-elect like pharaoh in Romans 9:17. We call this Gospel hardening. Can God save His elect on their dying bed. Absolutely! Jesus said, we shouldn’t be angry for working in the field all day and being paid the same as the one who worked for the last hour (Matthew 20). However, Hebrews says, “As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬ The Gospel message is, repent today! And believe the Gospel, lest you be hardened by it and die in your sins!

I wonder if Calvanists have or Armenias have ever read this verse: Galatians 4:9 [9]But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? There is a time that God doesn't know you.Unless you get IN CHRIST you are never known by the Father or the Son in an intimate relationship. Predestination has to do with our inheritance as saved individuals. We are predestined to Sonship. Paul speaks as the things we are predestined to have already happened, so Paul is speaking of a future event of recieving the adoption. Being chosen from the foundation of the world isn't a mystery either. You have to be IN CHRIST to be chosen. He was the chosen method and anyone IN HIM has His past, His present, and His future because we are one spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17 [17]But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

God, predestines groups or plurals only, never individuals. Ephesians 1 -2 points: “ us and we” are pre-destined never “you and I“! And 11 times in 11 verses from 3-14 you have to remain “in Christ“ (in him, in whom) to be predestined! Romans 9:1-3 Paul is talking about the nation of Israel, all the way to the end of chapter 11 ! So, “Jacob, I loved, Esau I hated“ is genesis 25:23 “there are two nations in your womb“! It’s talking about ‘Nations,’ not individuals in the whole context of those three chapters! Stop taking it out of context, along with Ephesians 1! Of course, we have the story of Jacob and Esau and how Esau despised his birthright ! So God truly does love all people, he truly did make hell for the devil and his angels just as Matthew 25:41 says ! Even the 42 youths, mauled by the 2 bears, was because they mocked Elijah‘s rapture, a.k.a. the resurrection , they were saying “go on up Baldy “ ; and ALL their prophets just recently Were killed by Elijah and they should’ve known to stop worshiping Baal! Bethel was the headquarters of Baal worship, where this took place! 490 priests got killed by Elijah, There was no Priests around,; should’ve been a gigantic clue. So God never arbitrarily and haphazardly deals with any human being ! His love cannot be measured says Romans 8! But if you’re a Calvinist, it’s “his love cannot be measured , (Wink, wink)“! Come out of the false belief system of Calvinism ! Now you have no excuse because you cannot out argue this, let’s hear you try! Read Matthew 25 the parable of the Calvinists, a.k.a. talents ! Where the guy buried his talent calling God,- somebody who doesn’t judge rightly & he was thrown into hell as a result! He had the wrong view of God, & So Will a Calvinist, they’ll have a callous view of God & The love of Christs sacrificial death on the cross!

For the good work or gracious act (not what we do) that God does for us, God expects a response from us. Our prior state/status and subsequent response don't merit the grace or good from God. Yet God wants a good response from us for our own good and His glory. The wedding garment represents the response of gratitude. Those who were initially invited were of high social status, but they refused and responded with ingratitude, indifference, disdain and contempt. They acted as if they were entitled to something better and had more important things to do that were more gratifying. They had a gratification or self satisfaction mentality, not a gratitude attitude. Those subsequently invited who did go to the banquet and dressed for the occasion realized they did not deserve to be there, and subsequently responded with gratitude, except for the man who didn't care to dress for the occasion. Gratitude in itself isn't enough to earn entrance to a lavish, gracious banquet which we did not work to produce, but it is the proper response to that which we don't deserve yet are given though another's successful effort or good work. Works mentality is gratification seeking with respect to salvation or God's grace. Faith mentality is a attitude of gratitude. Gratitude is the good response of our will to the work of grace God has already done that Christ earned that leads to a small but good imitative response or effort from us.
