ELECRICAL HARNESS MAINTENANCE - ITS A THING
Ойын-сауық
Loom inspections and service is a real thing yall and here’s some tips and tricks on how we do it

Adding to this, if you find unused connectors for ie: removed smog injector, lighting accessories etc. fill with di-electric grease and shrink wrap it or cut and waterproof the wire end to prevent corrosion shorting.
Glad to see you mention pin fitment. Often overlooked
Perfect timing as I replace my wiring harness for our November baja trip. Thanks for the video!
Amazing video as always. I’d love to see a how-to on removing and installing a harness.
Finally someone with harness video haha! Great video :)
Thank you for the effort to produce this video. I definitely needed the reminder.
Well, I learn something everytime you make a video. I had no idea that race teams replaced harnesses that often , I sort of assumed they built custom looms at best.
Well, they say timing is everything. In this case this video popping up is perfect timing. I just upgraded a new tube of dielectric marine grease and was going to go in and get everything prepped. I’ve added the AC F 50 to my shopping cart, so I’ll use that before hand. Thanks for the great tips.
Before watching I thought you were going to discuss the "breakage at the bend" near the steering tube and maybe how to mitigate that problem. Maybe a future addition?

Yes good call That can be a stand alone video

Nice video. I've been using dielectric grease on my connectors but looking forward to switching to this as it looks like it would be a cleaner solution. All my connectors that have dielectric grease applied are dust/dirt magnets
ACF50 could be introduced to the entire loom by having the loom in a vacuum jar with ACF50 so it gets sucked right down the entire wire length for real zero corrosion potential
Fluid film. Ha! Because I use fluid film for more than 1 thing it's always on hand and well... it's dielectric and clings, and prevents corrosion. So all in one.
Hi Mike I used a lot of this electric grease very good for waterdamage ! You should not use it on the injector as it can interfere! Well done good video and making people aware what also helps is a fabric tape for the wire loom extra protection and its soft so it can expand in heat and shrink in the cold electrical tape will break eventually
Finally…. I have a question for you!! I have a husky FE 350 and I want to make a new loom, but can’t find anywhere how to depin the ECU plug? It’s a good job I have decided to inspect, repair and renew my loom as I have found multiple breaks in either the wire or the outer cover. Thanks in advance
Thank you! What electrical connector pullout tester are you using?
How does cost of a new harness compare to labor cost to remove and go through a harness? I’m thinking if I went through the work of removing a harness from the bike I might as well replace it.

Good luck buying one, KTM does not even sell some of their harnesses.
Why not use dielectric grease on ecu connector?

Because it is same misconception about dielectric grease. It doesn't help contact, it just isolates from water and humidity ( and just to a certain level) . So first use electronic contact cleaner, then, as he show, any product which helps and protect contact. Then dielectric grease ( or any which doesn't have graphite, copper or any conductive products) especially under non protected plugs sockets.

Some will pack too much in and it creates compression pressure when trying to click in the connector A liquid film protectant is better for that application
That wath you never need to do on japanese bikes 🤣🤣🤦♂️
