it's tempting me to buy the game just to do that damn ritual.

We frequently have frogs on our first floor windows, we live next to a wetland area, and the frogs are awesome to watch.

I am so old that this game reminds me of Ghouls and Ghosts.

I got the notice that this was out and didn't remember putting it on my wishlist, so I assumed I'd already seen Splat do a video on it.

You were going quick through character creation and I wanted to see the other options so I slowed the video to 0.5x speed and lmao..On listening to Splat on 0.5x speed, I ascended. It was such an experience. :D

Can we give props to splat!!!! He almost always explains the situation of the game but also why he holds off or why it jumps to the front. It's not necessary but it makes it feel like we're hanging at a friend's house who just got a new game and I think that's awesome!!!! So formally I want to say props to SPLAT!!!!!!

I would argue that the ancien Viking sport of Catch-the-axe travelled quite a bit, based purely on the amount villagers with cloven faces from that time

I would like to point out that you leveled strength and switched to that dex based whip like weapon thats why your damage output lowered.

This is important to know. At this stage in the game there’s a hidden weapon, one imbued with fire status effect, if you’re at the section where the water fall is. Jump down all the way to the left if the water fall is to the left of your screen about 3/4 down the waterfall. Can jump there. This helps but certainly not some Combo filled crazy game within this first hour or so. Hopefully, like Oh wait. He said what I meant to say. No enemy activity to hits very well. You stay in place when you swing your weapon which feels a bit odd, almost like in the Diablo games (although those didnt necessarily feel odd in that regard. Feel like a sidescroller with metro elements would be best served with more combo animations and some dodge rolls

2:30 Arent those rings around the ankles the reason why they can float/fly? Kinda like a medieval jetpack.

Damage on touch replaces attacking animations. It's mainly a time saving tool for the developer.

Looks interesting but I'm definitely going to wait for a deep sale, around the $5 range and I might add it to my Library... Thanks Splat, another good find other than the price for what it is...

It's common in MMOs haha, basically means there's nearly no mechanics to keep track of so everyone can just focus on killing the boss :)

I feel like Motion Twin spoiled us so hard with Dead Cells, this is a tough genre to break into now.

For some reason this game interested me but felt like something might be off. So far, under an hour or so into the game, it definitely has that old school SNES vibe in terms of combat and movement. For example: jump, time swing and melee. Or hole shield, move few feet, then crouch, only to be stuck in the crouch swinging, waiting for the enemy to run into your blade. I guess I’m coming off PoP lost crown and cookie cutter, both games with combat that’s super fast and frantic and wild and busy with air combos and long i-rolls for dodge. But Elderand, thus far, feels more like an old school Nintendo IP. And perhaps it was an ode to such titles. But it’s certainly not one of the metrovania like Ori, or Aftermage with super sticky movement and travesal. Another reason for my take is when swing your weapon your stuck in that one place, no long combos that propel your character across the screen with animations. Again, I’m very early into the game so things could improve. I do know you get a grappling hook of some sorts so

Damage on Touch! I hate it!

It's old-school, which is cool and somewhat refreshing but I wish it had more depth when it comes to combat, because it seems that if you encountered an enemy once you've learned all you can about it. And the damage on touch with enemies also rushing at you (and not getting knocked back) is really a recipe for frustration and also a lazy way to design combat.

First impression, the head is 10% too big and the attack needs to go off more quickly. Even without pressing it myself I can tell it has a delay just by looking at the animation. Overall almost everything seems average, functional, but average.

I am beginning to think that you skip content/areas intentionally just to frustrate your viewers into buying the games to see what you skipped. Well played Splat, well played.

This game seems so bad, it feels like the devs didnt play video game for 30 years, and decide to "try" to make a close-combat action platformer. Without learning anything from everything that has been done since the 90's. It's a shame, cause for sure they put some love and hard work in the pixel art and music, etc.. but the gameplay... oh gosh

Keyboard and mouse master race. I agree its crazy though but I can't play hollow knight on controller.

With enemies respawning after you come back to an area + save points too far apart + multiple hard hitting enemies well before a next save and going back isnt much of an option = this game is too hard to enjoy for me. I played it on the switch the other day.
