When the narrator said Miquella left everything including his blinding strength, I have a feeling that is how we level up. By recovering Miquella's flesh of gold.

judging by the braces, that was marika in the beginning and she stole that golden stuff from a woman's belly covered with what i assume was a godskin type of cloth. then we see piles of corpses that look like the roots of the erdtree and marika holding the golden thing to basically create the erdtree and become a goddess. mesmer then proceeds to cook all the native people of that place, probably to nurture the erdtree further since we see everything going up that golden sap, that kinda looks like marika's crucified pose from the base game. miquella gave everything up to go here and discover what happened and now a bunch of tarnished are following his golden locks/rune to find him. miquella abandoning his flesh seems pretty straight forward, he left his body to go in there and abandoning his fate might mean that he gave up what would have been his future as st trina in order to pursue this mission. i'm not sure what the betrayal at the start was though but it must have something to do with the pregnant woman whose gold thing was taken from her belly. another thing that was shown is that when marika is shown at the roots made with corpses we see a gloam sky, maybe indicating what some have theorized, that she was the gloam eyes queen prior to becoming a goddess but maybe i'm reaching a bit there.

Wait a minute, in that shot where it pans up from Mesmer's victory, we can already see those veils surrounding the shadow of the erdtree. Was the war shown in this trailer happening AFTER Marika seperated the shadow realm from the realm of light? If that's the case, I think I've come to a horrific conclusion. A lot of us had previously assumed that Mesmer was trapped in the shadow realm as a form of exhile due to his relationship to fire and other blasphemous iconography, but that might not be entirely the case. I now believe that instead, it was the denizens of this realm that were trapped by Marika so that they wouldn't be able to escape Mesmer's genocide.

Its likely she had messmer do it, and take up all thats blasphemy, so that she can take control after. Then Messmer is the villian to everyone. Not her. This way Marika can gain power by "stopping messmers genocide" and containing him in the land of shadow?

Personally by the way they're narrating and what its showing I think that this is how the shadow of the erdtree was born, even the mass of corpses kind of looks like a tree trunk and at the center the golden light that flows in that tree.

Looks like a tiny newborn Rune Arc. It’s got the shape. And Marika holds it up at the gates like a Rune Arc. Maybe she ripped the grace from a body and used it to “infect” the shadow tree with light? So many questions.

The new levelling system is voluntary, you don't have to use it. Miyazaki spoke about it in one of his later interviews.

I think at the beginning we actually see Marika, not Miquella, taking something out of the vagina-looking skin sack (the sack might be something to do with the Godskin yeah) due to the jewelery she's wearing. And also the, uh, "flesh tower" kind of looks like the Erdtree, doesn't it? So now I'm wondering if we're not seeing the actual moment of it being created? Like literally Marika brought it forth by first building up a tree-shaped pile of corpses and then used the - whatever the blonde-hair thing is - to.. grow it into the tree on the "bright side" of that portal? Like the sunny side is the Lands Between and the Erdtree grows there, whilst on this side (the Gloam-eyed Queen's side? the sky is deep purple in a death/GEQ kind of way) it's this monumental pile of corpses that is the tree's foundation and perhaps gives it power?

I think the seduction and betrayal, was something Marika did, something she needed to do to create the golden order, and I think Melina was also a result and I think her being burnt was from Mesmer's flame. I also think this ties Melina in with the Gloam Eyed Queen and the black flame. Oh can't wait.

Ok so it looks like the beginning image is possibly a baby swaddled in the godskin? I think that Miquella and Messmer are the same person in the same way that Marika and Radagon are merged. Maybe the grace/order or what ever you call that hair stuff was ripped out of them as a child (probably by Marika) separating the two. Maybe she was trying to create the perfect being to become lord and what was left behind created Messmer? Also I believe that the seduction spoke of was Marika seducing Radagon for the purpose of creating a child, or maybe multiple children that she could then rip the grace out of to fuel Miquella’s growth. The game never really explained why Radagon left Rennala for Marika. Maybe we will find out. Also someone also commented this but I think the beginning area is the “formless mother” that Mogh gets his blood from. Possibly where the corpses that had their grace stolen are dumped. I’m guessing Marika has some skeletons in her closet and this place is her big ass closet.

Definitely not, Mesmer in the trailer speaks old language like Ranni, Morgott ...and uses words like "Thy, thou etc". But Malenia, who is the twin of Miquella, speaks modern English and uses words like " You, your etc". Miquella and Mesmer cannot be from the same age. And Radagon is the other half of Queen Marika.... It's pretty much self-explanatory why he left Rennala.

Maybe Messmer isn’t Marika’s brother but actually a side piece of hers. She was kickin it under the shadow of the erdtree with him and he’s actually the biological father of the demigods we know about but she kept it hidden from all of them and made them believe the same things that we have been told because she didn’t think he was a good man to be the father of her children. So she had it where messmer could never leave so her children would never find out about him and hence why miquella gave up everything to come here to find out about his real father he’s only heard of in rumors. 😁

Melina the Daughter of Messmer?

There’s alot of overpriced bs games nowadays, Elden Ring however is not one of them. The quality of this game puts other $60 games to shame. I have a feeling this DLC is almost gonna be like an Elden Ring 2. Of course not as big as base game but bigger than 90% of all other games dlc’s. Take my money Bandai

yep the one game that would be worth the 70-90 that other triple a games ask from you is the one that costs a reasonable amount. the base game alone has more story and gameplay, without ever being boring that one would hope for but we will get a big dope dlc on top. all game companies should take notes.

It's going to be far bigger than past fromsoftware dlcs. If they sold it any cheaper, they'd probably be losing money, and that's something I don't think some folks consider. The price is more than fair IMO.

maybe the seduction and betrayal of the gloom eyed queen. was that her eye in Marika's hand or maybe a gold hair !!! the city looks like it's old leyndel. the golden order in the tree is it spreading from inside of it, is it the same erdtree in the past... all this should be history, then how messmer and miquella fit's in !

@@mounirnasri9365 i thought of this world as the memories of mesmer, who i suspect is the withered arm whose dream miquealla and us go in. when mohg speak to miquella he speak to the ring and not the hand. i think miquella charmed him to make him be a guard for that "portal". i also think myazaki alluded that the hand isn't miquella too

​@@buckschneider7973not confirmed, he is on equal footing with the other demigods is what Michael zaki said, also following the timeline it seems like messmer is not a child of Marika due to the war of the shadow lands happend after Marika became a god prior to the age of plenty and Godfrey,so messmer existed before Marika ascended to godhood.

Ok. -puts on tin foil hat- Wait a second...so in the beginning Marika seduced and betrayed someone and got that thing and made gold arose....THE LANDS BETWEEN....between the tree of shadow. Miquella's hand is reaching out between the shell of the cocoon, which looks like the other side of the tree of shadow when Marika first split it! But who did she betray and why is Messmer mad? Wait, he called her mother in the first trailer....Marika seduced his father?
