    this script got so messy(i challenged myself to make it in one week alongside 2 other videos) Basicaly, if you really think aboot it, elden ring doubling down on the rpg aspects compared to other soulslikes caused a lot of issues in design philosophies for certain people. I used to be one of those people and even though I like the bosses now, I understand why people say what they do,,,, cuz I was once there..

    This DLC made me go back to souls basics and I loved it for that. I had to put on resistance talismans, use grease, think about fights and what I can use to get that edge out on the bosses. I had a great time dying over 300 more times in a game I have 600 hours in. Masterclass in what DLC should be. Only wish they put more of the new weapon types in the game. Like only 1 boss has a weapon from the new list we can get.

    Basically, I couldn't care less about how the game "should" be played. Nothing makes me want to do something more than being told I shouldn't.

    I love experimentation in games. And then I go play the most generic warrior character in every game. It can be nice to have a game that forced you to change. Just wish re-specing in ER was not limited, even if it is not that limited. Scarcity is a real fair for me, including myself. Though I understand them not wanting people to re-spec for every boss, it is not quite the same philosophy as Armored Core.

    I will say I have a rather unique take on this, mainly because elden ring was my first souls game (I'd played ds3 when I was 8 for a day because my mom thought she got darksiders 3) that introduced me to these games, I cheated and scrounged and scraped for everything I had in this game and was satisfied with myself. I had some level of pride though and knew that this was not how you were supposed to play, so I wanted to learn 'the dance' for at least one boss. there was, of course, one boss that I wished to learn 'the dance' that everyone was so fond of. I wanted to beat Malenia, no frost no bleed no bloodhounds step no summons, just a complete understanding of the rhythm, it took me 13 playthroughs before I tried again after the horrific failure of my first playthrough, a duel strength whip build with a octopus helm called octoman! it took me days to fully understand them, not for most of the moves but for one, waterfowl dance, I could dodge it easy enough, except when it happened point blank, I could never understand, because usually when that happened I would be in the middle of an attack and have no capability of running away, learning this was where almost all of the practice was focused on, I won't bore you but it took about a week for me, and I did it, I completely understood her foot down and out, I was happy, satisfied, cackling like a madman for I finally understood. after that I spent 89 hours on a bloody caestus only lord of frenzy run (successful btw!). While I was completely and utterly satisfied, here is where the true turmoil comes from me, on one hand, I love the end result and I felt more satisfied then ever before and this cemented elden ring as one of the best games of all time, up there with shadow of war and devil may cry, but I did remember my hatred of learning it, my fear and revulsion of malenia, my genuine hatred. In short this game will always be something I'm fully attached to, whereas I can totally understand those who may not like it, as I found another malenia, consort radahn, and I will learn him, or die trying. TLDR I enjoy it for all the wrong reasons and for that simple reason I can understand why people could hate it and hold no ill will towards them, but please don't ask to nerf consort radahn. SIDE NOTE IF THERE IS ANY HATE TOWARDS MY BOY IGON THERE WILL BE HANDS

    @@igreiga Oh I did, never got past ds1 because I could not murder the doggo, especially after beating the dlc, bloodborne was quite literally one of the easiest games I ever played until I got to ludwig, then maria, then orphan of kos, beast claw helped me a lot there, all in all one of my favorite eldritch horror games. ds2 shrine of amana made me quit the game. ds3 is kind of peak, I enjoyed it thoroughly and I got the lord of hollow ending blind, which upon learning about it I was VERY proud of, all in all, from software is kind of my favorite developer now

    Love how you broke down the part about people wanting a challenge but not too much of a challenge, and also not wanting something to be too easy. Fun/joy should be the factor by which we judge our experience when playing these games, and if the DLC is doing that for you then great, but if it's not then you should go check out a different game that may better suit your subjective fun. And that should be allowed/encouraged and perceived with an open mind, rather than critcizing or hating on people for having a different persepctive than you. People's ego's are wild lol

    I completely agree. Even though Elden ring as a complete experience is good, the bosses themselves simply don’t compare to other souls games. I don’t look forward to fighting any boss in Elden ring except Radagon. In DS3 when I play, I’m excited to fight almost every boss except very few. Dancer, Pontiff, Abyss Watchers, etc. Elden Ring in general is incredibly underwhelming on this front. I feel like the game is always fighting itself, and with the overt reliance of summons, you see it in the boss design. Every single boss has half their moveset deal nuking AoE damage, long unending combos. Tbh a ton of these bosses feel the exact same

    I watched that video from Feeble King, but I don't remember much Most of what you said reflects what I feel after I've seen most reasons & arguements from all sides on Twitter, tho I still haven't played Elden Ring yet I have played through Dark Souls 1, Demon's Souls(PS3 ver.), Bloodborne & Dark Souls 3 multible times & managed to beat Dark Souls 3 on a Soul Level 10 run Gael took me 3 days to beat, but after almost every attempt I felt myself becoming a little bit better It was my favorite experience in Dark Souls 3 & I'll soon do a SL1 run

    TLDR: Replay the game, you might like it this time, especially all of you saying this about the dlc. I'd like to throw my hat in the ring with a perspective i haven't heard before. Elden ring WASN'T fun. People complained that there were no openings to attack in between combos, that bosses hit way too hard, all the shit people are saying about the dlc. Most of those people who still play the game changed their mind about all of these things. Replaying the game with fist weapons was fun, all the base game bosses had not just openings, but big ones, and I had fun learning them, all while in a middle ground of not instantly killing bosses but doing good damage. Can't wait to do it again with the dlc once I have more experience there. Yapping aside, my point is that I believe that most of the people who have issues with elden ring combat would enjoy replaying the game much more than they think, and that the same will likely be true of the dlc. Sure sounds like you did

    If I think I get what you're saying, what you're complaining about is the point of the game. The boss design, FUNDAMENTALLY, pushes the souls engine to the max. If you want to beat the boss using only basic roll dodge, jump, position, basic attack, then you are in for a crazy challenge, as it should be because it's the last FromSoft Souls game. So because the bosses push the limit of the Souls engine, it forces less serious players to use much stronger builds to get through. And that's fine in my opinion. It's the last Souls game, the bosses should be insane.

  • @igreiga

    @igreiga

    Yeah that's somewhat accurate. Technically less serious players is right but a bit mean lol but yeah most people arent gonna sit there and learn Margit's mixups like its a fighting game

    ER is not unfair because *someone* does it anyway" is the worst argument you could've pulled out. So much so that it reverses against you. Measuring by the absolute best has never been anything but an invalidation of your own arguments. It's thee same as trying to argue we should measure sprinting of every human being based on Usain Bolt or intelligence based on Einstein/Stephen Hawking.

  • @igreiga

    Hmmm I can see that. In my defense i was outsourcing popular twitter/youtube reply arguments in that section cuz my actual point was about le boss design, which is why later on I do say they're too hard and unfair. Probably shoulda made that clearer, among other things.

    For me, I just gave no shits and used what i found. I used summons but i barely leveled them, cared not for resistances, and just had fun with the game. 1,300 hours of gameplay later and I have long since stopped using summons, and have done many funny builds with lots of fun weapons. The main boss design is super great Imo, and I have had extremely few bad things to say about the game. Yes, I have multiple playthroughs with all the othef games, including sekiro, and I still think elden ring just did everything right. I could just be an insanely optimistic person and not see/care about its faults, but my enjoyment sure speaks for itself.
