I said this in the chat as well, but I think Radahn was all on board with the vow when he thought that Miquella was going to be a God of the Golden Order, as Marika's successor. When he discovered that Miquella planned to abandon the Golden Order, that's when he refused, and so Miquella sent his debt collector Malenia. I think Mohg was needed to access the Realm Of Shadow, because he is of hornsent lineage.

I still feel Radahn wanted this result, but you can read it either way. I also love the dynamic between Marika and Miquella (or lack thereof) and I wonder if Miquella's choice was related to who Marika chose. It's not a coincidence imo that the characters of the demigod generation that are the most like Marika and Godfrey ended up being the final boss of DLC. History repeats itself, after all; the writing was on the wall all along. I think it's possible that Miquella was recreating the dynamic of the Goddess and her first Elden Lord, and by any means necessary, and with his own twist of course. He is NOT directly his mother. In other words, if Marika and Godfrey came together out of a mutual goal and love, I think there is an argument that Miquella and Radahn came together by force. But the reverse is also a possibility. Whether Radahn wanted this or not, however, it ends up twisted, and that's what's so cool.

@@Wraff Do you reckon Godwyn was a potential choice for Miquella also? It does put a whole new spin on the nature of how he was murdered, and why Miquella was desperate for him to die a true death. It would be funny, with the number of people who wanted it to be Godwyn instead, if Miquella was right there with them.

@@Whysday I don’t think radahn was all for the vow. The remembrance you get and the memory say only miqualla wanted it but you don’t see anything on radahn’s. He doesn’t speak, he doesn’t have a reaction to anything and yet he was this kind hearted person when he was younger and was one of the most active demigods in the shattering but he still doesn’t speak to the tarnished nor miqualla himself. Not to mention armor you get from radahn says “miqualla awaits thee o promised consort” Although that doesn’t contradict anything but as you can see that radahn fought WAY too hard to survive and beat malania. No I firmly believe radahn wasn’t all for the vow because he wouldn’t have all of cealid be nuked just to have his mind rotted for so many years to just be revived. He was loyal to the golden order but again he fought way to hard to not be charmed and go along with miqualla’s plan and why do all this to revive him when he could just do it when he was alive?

Wraff's reaction to killing Radahn was the exact same as mine: not a joiful one of having overcome a big but fun obstacle, au contrair was like when you finish to clean home, wring out the mop, a pissed off sigh and you relax on the coach finally.

I‘ve beaten him twice now and can assure you, it won’t get better the second time. I love the first phase,I love the cutscene, I hate Ishin AOE bullshit spamming. Well maybe over time, when I learn that phase better I might enjoy it (so happened with Radagon, King of Holy spam and Malenia), but now my soul needs time to heal 😂

@@Wraff tryed to replay the game again twice after that final boss in the dlc but god, it doesn't get better when you know the fight. It's not satisfying or rewarding when it's over, you're just glad the redhead himbo's down, same with other bosses in the dlc, except Rellana and Messmer, those are fun fights, readable, enjoyable, engaging, interesting. Radahn's just a strobe lights on cocaine with no epilepsy trigger warning message when the fight starts.

@@Hauri1972 I'm so exhausted after that dlc I'm not playing a fs soulslike for a long time maybe, playing them since dms on ps3. Back to making cute homes for my sims. Played ER base game over and over and never got bored by it but after a couple of hours in the dlc I already lost interest. They moved the difficulty entirely from areas to bosses, and while you can dodge basically EVERYTHING by just rolling your way to the boss room, the bosses seemed done for those who get serotonin only out of frustration. They're not fun, they're not engaging, they're not readable, they're just A TON extra for no reason at all.

Congratulations Wraff! Can't wait for NG+ of the DLC.

I actually don't see Miquella as a victim. To me he shows qualities of a dictator like character, wants to make the world a gentler place by getting rid of those who oppose him, and by manipulating and charming people. He basically got rid of anything that tied him to the human world, and not just the flesh but his fears and love too. He looks like a child and has some qualities of a child but also that's part of his curse and he's not all child. He's manipulated many people around him including Malenia, Mohg, and maybe the revived Radahn too. This scheming isn't characteristic of a child.. I mean maybe he was one when he made the vow with his brother in that memory, but not all the way through the story Also why so prejudice about Radahn? lol I think he was mentioned to be an honourable warrior, before the whole scarlet rot thing BTW I've found your channel recently. Like some of the content very much

I also hated the fact that Radahn was the final boss. I was honestly really hoping for Malenia instead. What helpednme come to terms with it somewhat was that we aren't really fighting Radahn. We are fighting Miquella's puppet. If not Radahn, he could have used someone else. It doesn't really matter except that Radahn was probably the strongest non-empyream he could think of.

I still feel that Radahn was made into a consort unwillingly. Remember, Miquella has the ability to sway those into having love for him; the fact Radahn isn’t there talking to Miquella in the memory makes me believe he was forced to become his consort. As Ansbach said "There is nothing more terrifying".

Absolutely, but then we have Leda, who follows Miquella faithfully whether charmed or not, because his goals are also hers. I genuinely believe Leda was introduced to us in part as a storytelling device, so we'd know that it is totally possible to love Miquella without being manipulated. It's an impossible thing to ignore in the context of Radahn.

@@Wraff True, Leda's a very unsettling character. We kinda see that running pattern of those willingly following someone even though they’ve done awful things. Even though Messmer doesn’t have that ability, Rellana and Gaius willingly followed him despite the Abyssal Serpent(Base Serpent) within him; Hell, Radahn even looked up to Messmer. Also, apologies for not following the more recent streams, but did you catch the Malenia OST reference in Romnia's 2nd phase?
