Elche is a small city located in the province of Alicante. The city is full of history and architecture. The fame of Elche was brought by an archaeological find discovered on August 4, 1897 in the fields of a private farm near the city - a bust of a woman in a rather strange headdress. A unique monument of ancient Iberian art (4th century BC), called the "Lady of Elche".
The city was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The reason for this was the palm gardens surrounding the city (more than 5 sq. km., the largest in Europe).
