@@daleval2182 I am a mechanical engineer, so the science we got taught are straight-up facts. If you discredit science, you are always on the wrong side. Sorry to bring that to you. You don't get to choose facts based on what you like or don't like. Science doesn't care about your feelings. I mean, what are you doing here? You say science is lies. WTF? What Dr. Elaine does IS science. You should google Dunning Kruger Effect, I'm pretty sure you have that. Because I am not educated enough in this field (Soil biology) I can't judge if what Dr. Elaine is telling is true. It all makes sense, yes, but I don't have enough knowledge to definitely say that what she is talking about is true. I like to believe that it's true and I hope it is true and I want it to be true, but I couldn't tell based on my education in this field. I will educate myself further on this and try her system myself. I don't just mindlessly believe everything. I want to think for myself. I am NOT saying Dr. Elaine is lying. I don't think she is. All I'm saying is, that I don't know enough about this topic to judge. It's exactly the same thing if you look at flat earthers or anti vaccers. The people following these ideas discredit the science system like you do. If you have no knowledge at all in a field, the thinks these flat earthers and anti vaccers say to you might make sense. Because you have no knowledge you can't tell when you are lied to and where what they tell you is flawed. And they just think they are educated because they listened to these people. That is why there are people believing the earth is flat. They discredit science and then mindlessly follow these people preaching the flat earth on youtube. Be better than those guys, educate yourself and ALWAYS think critically. Don't just believe what sounds right at first glance. You don't get to pick for yourself what is true and what is not.

my tiller quit and this started me into a whole new way of life and gardening I have learned much from different folks on youtube and especially this lady..One thing I did was dug out rows where I intended on planting about 18 in wide and buried old trees and branches well on their way decomposing and then layered grass clippings and leaves on top of them before putting soil back on top. I felt this was a great idea.I have composted for years but never had it all explained to me I just new how the soil would turn out and I liked that. Ive wondered about table scraps as we all know some of our food from the stores has been sprayed with pesticides and are gmo foods that we put in our compost. I have put another layer of leaves and grass clippings on top of all this and it should be great next year. Putting a handfull of compost in hole where each plant goes and then water with compost tea .

I watched this lecture and was anxious to try her methods, and she got to the “want to learn more about restoring your soil?” And her last words were to ask the question I was anxious to hear the answer to about how to apply all these principles . . . And the video ended. Is there a part two?

@@inlikearefugee5194 compost is only useful for adding the right microbes to soil, what matters more than that is providing a diverse array of plants above the soil so they produce adequate exudates to support the diverse microbes you want below ground. without the sugars being produced then even if you add compost the microbes within that compost will die. compost is simply an inoculant and once you have healthy soil you are better off letting the organic matter break down on the soil surface because that is supporting the microbes you have there rather than growing aload somewhere else to then dump ontop of them and disrupt the ecosystem that has been improved over time, setting you back. if you simply have the right plants above the soil they will attract the good microbes over time compost is simply a way to speed this process up.

Are you sure that the liquid dropping off from the compost (compost leachate) is full of beneficial bacteria? I have the impression that compost leachate is composed essentially by fulvic and humic acids. On top, I ha read that the majority of the bacteria in compost liquid are the anaerobic bacteria that develop in the fermentation occurring while composting (even if we attempt to minimalized the fermentation). In this case, it there is risk that it is pathogenic bacteria so it is advice to not spread it on your vegetable garden.... Do you have an opinion and an advice whether to apply compost leachate directly on vegetable garden or not? Thank you

AS politely as possible. If your pile is going anaerobic you are doing something wrong. If there is a an unpleasant smell through it out. She has 40 years of experience telling you that "aerobically' generated compost, and the teas and extracts from them, is healthy for your plants.

Tuan Haji - Meaning, you didn't learn much from these dissertations! There's no "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" or a "cure all" solution. Each and every case should/must be evaluated individually... The basic principles are (now) well known! But application to your particular case, can be totally different, from let's say my case! Increase/improve your biome. Increase organic matter availability. Protect soil and soil web. Reduce/eliminate erosion. Increase soil water retention/content! In a nutshell this is the basics. Probably I forgot some more, but you get the picture! Cheers
