EL Paso, TX - Driving Downtown 4K
El Paso (/ɛl ˈpæsoʊ/; from Spanish, "the pass") is a city and the county seat of El Paso County, Texas, United States, in the far western part of the state. The 2018 population estimate for the city from the U.S. Census was 682,669, making it the 22nd largest city in the United States.[6] Its metropolitan statistical area (MSA) covers all of El Paso and Hudspeth counties in Texas, and has a population of 840,758.[6]
El Paso stands on the Rio Grande across the Mexico-United States border from Ciudad Juárez, the most populous city in the Mexican state of Chihuahua with 1.4 million people.[7] Las Cruces, in the neighboring U.S. state of New Mexico, has a population of 215,579.[8] On the U.S. side, the El Paso metropolitan area forms part of the larger El Paso-Las Cruces CSA, with a population of 1,060,397.[8]
Bi-nationally, these three cities form a combined international metropolitan area sometimes referred to as the Paso del Norte or the Borderplex. The region of 2.5 million people constitutes the largest bilingual and binational work force in the Western Hemisphere.[9]
The city is home to three publicly traded companies, and former Western Refining, now Andeavor.[10] as well as home to the Medical Center of the Americas,[11] the only medical research and care provider complex in West Texas and Southern New Mexico,[12] and the University of Texas at El Paso, the city's primary university. The city hosts the annual Sun Bowl college football post-season game, the second oldest bowl game in the country.[13]
El Paso has a strong federal and military presence. William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Biggs Army Airfield, and Fort Bliss are located in the area. Fort Bliss is one of the largest military complexes of the United States Army and the largest training area in the United States.[14] Also headquartered in El Paso are the DEA domestic field division 7, El Paso Intelligence Center, Joint Task Force North, United States Border Patrol El Paso Sector, and the U.S. Border Patrol Special Operations Group (SOG).
In 2010 and 2018, El Paso received an All-America City Award. El Paso ranked in the top three safest large cities in the United States between 1997 and 2014,[15] including holding the title of safest city between 2011 and 2014.[16]

I live here. I've had the experience of living in other cities and other countries, but El Paso is home. El Paso is a lot friendlier than most places I've lived or visited. Great sunsets, good food, and plenty to see with Museums, historical sites, and nature. It's very unique in terms of culture and what you'll encounter in the rest of the United States. I suspect your experience in any place can vary depending on who you surround yourself with. My experience here has been very positive, but the local government leaves a lot to be desired. l would also say that El Paso is also very safe - you're not likely to run into trouble, but like any big city or metropolitan area...it's there. You'll just have to look a little harder than most places. This video shows a very inactive downtown - by the date, it looks like this is during shutdown or maybe a weekend.

I lived here from 1990 to 2014. Bought a home on the Eastside in 1992, good neighbors, good friends... peaceful life, excellent area to live, and the mountains! 24 years of a peaceful existence. Retired, moved away to be closer to relatives, big mistake! I wish I hadn't, pero ya, ¿para qué? pues, ¡ni modo! Too old and frail to return, but videos like this go a long way in keeping my happy memories alive! Thanks so much!

I live in El Paso and for a large city it’s extremely safe. I travel for a living and watching the local news where the big story of the day is a wind storm or a cat stuck in a tree is type of news you see daily in a city of nearly 1 million is not the norm. I turn on the news in other cities and it’s a world of difference. This also is one of the cheapest places to live in United States for a big city. 🤫

Just to let everyone know this city shares the border with Juarez the second most dangerous city in the whole world and it is home to the Juarez Cartel. Yet El Paso is one of the safest cities in the USA.

El Paso tx is my hometown and I love it
What’s that building at 12:00? It’s nice as hell. El Paso has an unexpectedly good urban foundation upon which to build. I’d love to see it boom and become as large as the other 5 major Texas cities. I bet it would look even better with 4 or 5 ultra modern glass skyscrapers added to downtown. So much potential there.
