El Diablo Run: A Motorcycle Adventure Through California and Mexico | Trippin with 805 Beer

Travel and adventure are huge parts of getting away, seeing what else is out there waiting to be explored. In this new series called “Trippin” we decided to join Bill Bryant and our friends at Biltwell on their infamous event known as the El Diablo Run in Baja California Mexico. Spending a few days camping along the Sea Of Cortez, the Biltwell guys and gals have always enjoyed a cold 805 after a hard ride and there is no better way than a trip to Mexico.

The ride experience in 69/70 era would pretty much be the same today. We probably did more research before we left like route, maybe check the weather and everything was on a paper map. Just like you guys today, ya made the best of it. Got a week, maybe two, rural roads all the way 45 mph everything strapped to the sissy bar and camping out every night. I haven't forgotten. Every March throw the bikes on the back of a pickup or a trailer and head for the Keys for a week or two.

I hear yu brother! I think I must have bin a biker in a past life. Since I was a kid I was drawing choppers on my public school work books. They all had long forks and coffin tanks. At 14 I bought my first motorcycle a 76 Honda CR 125. Used to run that on road off road, no helmets, no protective gear, no lights, no licence. Today I have a 2010 Roadking (customized) and live in Canada but watching your video inspires me to build a chopper in its simplest form and move to CA. Not necessarily in that order :D

Riding side by side with a buddy, about 40 and yakking, I guided on him and didn't notice the ditch until I was in it🤣 suddenly I was using my dirt bike skills on a 61Panhead, avoiding cactus and barbed wire fence😂 until then I didn't know what a Harley could do!!! But that type riding Does require you to Stand on the footboards👍😊

LOL at the idea of that being "tough" motorcycling. Has to be some of the easiest land to travel on in the world - warm, dry, and never far from trails and pavement.

Well having done it in 2007, the "pavement" in Mexico is intermittent at best, not the nicest thing to have happen at 40 or 50, or even 25 mph. There have been wrecks and deaths. A person in front of me hit a pothole on a "highway" on a rigid and was lucky to keep it up. Everything not bolted down was all over the road in 3 directions. And some of the bolted down stuff. Gas might be available. Army patrols may stop and "chat" and you ain't in America anymore Dorothy. It was a great few days but it was exhausting and grueling not to mention 2 days ride to Temecula and 2 more days ride home. But when you've done it, you might have a different opinion.

The difference now is cars on the freeway go 85-90, I ride a 2013 Streetglide with 23 inch front wheel and 13 inch Legend shocks. Ive traveled on Rigid b4 that i built. It's not terrible but things have changed since the 1950's and 60's. A motorcycle highway accross the country would be nice, you could cruise a chop a 55mph and bikes would see you and watch out for you but these fools in cars today will rear end you and run your ass over.

You say that people then were tougher - maybe, and you do have the benefit of tech, phones etc etc. A real change from then to now though is non-bikers attitudes - people were less broad-minded back then and a group of strangers were considered to be a threat. Bikers were also a little less well monied back then whereas these days you have money to spend and in today's economic climate every penny you spend helps to put food on other people's tables - nothing wrong with that, it is just how times change. I am in England and it sometimes surprises me how much society's attitude has changed - no doubt the fact that drugs are now the norm in towns and cities has changed how the majority of people see things but these days it is a lot more expensive to own and run a bike compared to how it was 50 years ago..... 'Oh the times they have a-changed'.....

Sence 2006 ? I'm from the 60s ! That sounds so strange ! It's all fun and games until someone loses and eye ! Laim after a run is commercialized and their so much law enforcment to you can't spit ! In trinity co commiefornia we had the best 4th of July party anywhere ! Carnival river raft race people drunk all over town fighters lovers destruction derby rodeo ! But then socialist nazis sh*t it so bad only the people from the 60s come back now to see how fu*ked up it is ! A couple of crappy booths and thats about all that's left ! I always wanted to go to sturgis but I see vids and it's all commercialized crap now ! I still want to take the run but not go into sturgis ! Nazi's shi*t on everything ! If They see people having a blast they just have to sh*t on it !

In the old day's, we ALL carried women with us on the back. These dude's look like gay tennis shoe wearing kids with helmets and no one even has a back seat to carry a women. What the F is a biker party without women. I use the word biker losely because these dudes are not bikers. They are "motorcycle enthusiasts".
