Ekombi Dance - Efik
Музыка
Ekombi is a traditional dance amongst the Efik people in Calabar, Cross River State - Nigeria. The movements are derived from the motions of the ocean. It is a graceful dance with incredible footwork, it's a dance of peace and happiness. Ekombi shows a woman's beauty and femininity, the dance is also a good platform to choose a partner for marriage.

I am from the Igbo tribe but while I was in primary school I was among the student selected to dance the ekombi back then with all the intricate and delicate dance steps and the attire. Till today I love the Efik and Netim dance steps. I can spend hours watching them dance
A very proud Efik woman here 👌 As a kid I was thought the intricate dance steps of the ekombi dance by my father. It's a tradition that all Efik women know how to dance the ekombi dance. A beautiful, graceful and cool heritage....my pride.

Wow I love this my mom always told me about my people from calabar ♥️♥️♥️♥️and I just can't wait to see them
The difference is very clear, others are still trying to learn this unique rich cultural heritage from the Efiks.
Beautiful Calabar girls graceful dance walks very precious and precised rhythm.

The Ekombi dance is the best traditional dance in the world
This is an incredible complex rhythm of drum sounds that I have ever heard. The melody of the lead drummer locks in rhythm with the steps of the dances. The other two drums, the rattle, and the chanting take everything to another level that is just mysterious.

This is completely the age long Ekombi dance of the Efik people of Calabar. The music, drumming, the vocalling, attires and the dancers are all pure Efik custom and culture. This is truly the Ekombi of the Efiks not the choreography by imitators. Incidentally, except you are Efik you won't understand the secret in the dance steps.Although the neighbouring tribes try to copy, the difference is always clear.

@@f.a.archibong251 the neighbouring tribes don't try to copy. But they most likely emigrated from same culture. That's why languages, names and culture are similar
The slim man's voice is really nice. I keep coming back to watch this video. I love ekombi dance though I can't dance it
This is so lovely and captivating. Not my language but am so in love with the whole thing.

The Efik Eburutu people are part of the lost tribes of the Ephraim family of Israel..The word Hebrew got corrupted over the years to Ebru..Eburu as the sourjouned from the Red sea across Africa. The word Eburutu got derived from Eburu a corruption of Hebrew and Ututu(a town in Afikpo)the Ebrus sojourned at before moving down the River Cross to Arochukwu,Uruan and finally to CALABAR in search of the land of Canaan. That is why Calabar to the Efiks is also. Canaan City.
