I survived a PEA about a month ago. I'm being told it was due to LOW Potassium, but that is not on your list. I went in for a routine kidney surgery and started coming out of anesthesia too soon, so they pushed more, then I went into PEA. So thankful to be alive. Sore from cpr, but alive

Glad you are alive. My mom had PEA and was septic. She died.
Great work Mike. Please NB: Defibrillation technically STOPS the heart, it doesnt "restart" it. Hence the inability to shock asystole. You can't stop stopped. Further an AED will not recognise PEA as its algorithm is to schock VT or VF only.
So glad I found this channel! These short and simple videos have made today’s study session so much better than all the reading I did all week. Definitely made things finally make sense! Thanks!

Can you explain more with what the heart itself is doing? In other words, how is one pulseless but still has normal appearing electrical activity. Is the electrical signaling just not strong enough to cause the heart to pump? PEA has always been fascinating to me, but I still don't really "get" what's going on.
Great lecture
