EJC Bruneck 2015

This years EJC was, once again, the best EJC so far.
During the 9 days I carried my camera around and was able to catch some really nice pictures and moves with it.
All together it made a pretty long Video but I just wanted to put everything in and even got some extra footage from Lukas.
My only goal was to give you the unique Vibes of an ejc, although everything in the video is really related to me personally as it's content is mostly diabolo and my other jugglingfriends.
But nevertheless it might get you a bit nostalgic or hyped for the next ejc!
The music is:
In the order of the Video
Project Control - Silence
Captian Black - Sister
Achim - Beatboxing
Jose Gonzales - Stroies We Build Stories We Tell
Mr. Raoul K - Sene Kela
Clams Casino - Realist Alive
The footage I used from Lukas : • EJC 2015 Bruneck Timel...

sooooo nice man :) some questions : which kinda camera do you use? what's your mike? i've saw you're steady cam during the EJC, is it homemade? what are your color corrections settings? i've done the video of EJC on lucas' channel, and i want to progress for my future editings ;)

+rolletmeheust Thanks! And for the questions: I use a Canon 70D. And for some shots i also used the Magic Lantern custom firmware. (And a 30mm Sigma f1,4 and the Canon EF-s 10-18mm for most of the shots) The Mic i used is a pretty cheap one from Hama. Just so i don't have to use the build in mic. The steadycam is selfmade. I made it back when the only steadycams you could buy were several hundreds of euros. When i made it (together with my dad) i saw some diy videos on youtube and figured out how i can make one of those with parts i, mostly, had lying around the house. (The handle for example is from an old tea-pot) For the colors I did mostly three things. Some curves adjustments for a bit of contrast. A bit of desaturation so the contrast doesn't make it look too "plastic" and some adjustments of the color-temperature to give it a warm feel. Mostly I did this for the second part, for the rest I hadn't had a plan and just used the mentioned effects until it looked good. (for the indoor shots there wasn't much i could do because the material didn't allow much correction without making it look bad) If you're interested in more detailed explenations you're welcome to message me and I will elaborate on those things ;)

nice color correction! how long did the last title sequence took you?

+ScratThunder Thanks for noticing the colours :) Und entschuldige bitte, dass ich dir die Diabolo sachen doch nicht geschickt hab. Ohne die wär das Video nur halb so gut geworden! And the last sequence took quiet a while. Although I already used the technique in the shot before, most of the time I spent thinking about if I really want to do this and how exactly it should look. Also I made different versions which made the shot look even more "surreal". The final Version is a lighter edited one. And just to do that one was about a few hours. Most of the time I spent trying different things that actually didn't make it to the final video. (And as always most of the time spent was rendering) To summerize the shot, there is: a bit of camera mapping to do the camera-movement. (Which i tried to do in a very complex way but in the end stayed with the simple way because the footage wasn't really suited for it) So there are the mountians in different depth-planes. Also the fog and the typo is in the space between the mountians. And the thing I personally like about it is the "volumetric light" wich makes up the light rays around the text which are slightly affected by the beat. And of course a bit of noise-reduction, depth of field, CC, and motion blur. So with the things above it would really take 3-5 hours to do the wohle shot. But as it was a practice for me I spent more like 20-30 hours with trying out different things (including rotoscoping) which i actually didn't found good enough in the end. (To put this in to perspective; i made about 50 AE layers and used about 20 to render what you see) This answers much more than you questioned but maybe someone likes to read about that ;) Ah man I am always pleased to talk about this stuff so I have to add another thing which might be interesting about this. In this shot and the very first one i tried out to do timelapses which are actually not made out of single photos but made with the HDR-Video feature of Magic lantern. So this was Filmed 1080p25 with alternating ISOs every frame (I think 100 and 800 in this case) which gave me a bit more of dynamic range when combined. And espacially in the first shot you may notice the dynamic range really is better than a normal canon could do ( although youtube fucks the quality up). Sorry for the long answer, but these are things I could talk about for hours :D

+Tobias Wilhelm such a complete information. Thanks! Btw, my phone (opo) includes the possibility to do time-lapse with HDR, and it works pretty good, like a blessing to a non expert like me.

+Tobias Wilhelm Thanks for the in depth info. For me thats highly interesting. I think you did an awesome job with the last title - i kinda know how hard it is. I know Magic Lantern and have it on my 600D but dont use it as much as i should. Therefore i didn't even know about the HDR feature which looks totally awesome. Have to try this as well. No worries about the clips. I still have enough material for two videos (the ca meeting and the diabolo video). Your video highly motivated me to get the stuff done. Cheers
