Some people are like that, I am. I am swedish and my english is told to be """flawless""". I just do it. What you can do, is watch a lot of movies, pause sometimes and say what they said in the film, until it's perfect. But, as I said, not a lot of people can get a good english that is flawless but you can try:)

I know one of my friends listen to music and hears how they pronounce it, then check up the lyrics online and say/talk the whole song, and you'll be chocked because you automatically say it the way they did in the song and it will sound very good:)

Salma's accent is fake, she speaks very good english, the latin market is their primary audience so they have to relate to them somehow so they fake it, same Sofia Vergara, they haven't lived in Latinamerica for decades. btw what's with the moron who ask "Where did you learn to surf?"

aaron bush There are tons of Hispanic Americans that never lose their accent regardless of the amount of years they live in the US. I doubt Salma's accent is fake. Sofia's is a bit exaggerated for comedic purposes, though, but she still has a noticeable accent nonetheless. There are people who come to the US as children and still speak with a slight foreign accent as well as people who come on their mid-to-late teens or as young adults and speak accent-less English. Esther is right, it all depends on the person and their willingness to sound as native as possible. For example, I speak accent-less English but my sister speaks English with a Hispanic accent and we both came to the US on the same day. We both came as 11 and 15 year-olds respectively.

jsphat81 actually if you search interviews of salma when she was beginning you will get a good surprise because she hid her accent, but in the years of 2005 or so, there was this trend to talk with a very strong accent, like penelope cruz, sofia Vergara and salma follows that trend, i think she wants to be different.....

I was born and raised in puerto rico and i have a perfect "American" accent as I learned English. It just depends on the school. Im currently 14 and moved to United states when i was 10 almost 11 and my accent was heavy but it went away. It just takes time. If you use English constantly then you'll be fine but since i was/am young i pick it up faster. She must've went to a bilingual school over in Mexico because same thing happens in Puerto rico with people who go to a bilingual school.

Her english is really good, much better than Paulina Rubio's english, love her :)
