What a beautiful tragic story on the northern landscape! The author left the finale open, but I want to believe that the girl waited for her lover and they lived their happy years together. The actor brilliantly played the role of Death. Expressive face, subtle emotions, the birth of a smile. I hope he continues his acting career. It was the most beautiful thing I have seen in my life. There is actually a full video to this. The conclusion was that she wasn't in love with the boy, she was in love with death itself- you could see her reach for the next death man.

I know the Faroe Islands are small, but how is this talent not known everywhere there is a thriving music culture? Brilliant, and stunning too I might add.

I have been looking online about Northern Sweden and Norway - I don't think (between the Northen Lights, fijords etc.) Except now after years of abusing my lungs by smoking - then vaping at least another three years - I've got COPD and winter there would most likely kill me. I'm from Florida and the temperature went into the high 70's - nothing I had would work - rescue inhaler, nebulizer etc. so I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. It's like downing in AIR and the pain is horrific. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it there alive - with on 70% oxygen. And, they found a nodule on my right lung - so I have to get a biopsy now, great... I really, really want to put going up there on my "bucket list" but it would probably make me kick it over instead - well, it's a beautiful place to die! 😔

You just need to discover it. Took me to this year-- 2022-- before I did Eivor. In the old days it was different. I prefer it now (far more choice for one) or might have long before capitalism, such as around our primeval campfires. Art will continue to be made, regardless. I make it myself.

Agreed - beautiful and sad at the same time. Hits hard. life hits hard. But my redeemer lives. there is a hope. i found it. In the true lover of my soul. the man who rose again and lives today can give you that hope. though everything is black now and there is no hope. there is. IN HIm.

Death is our one true love. I do not mean this in some suicidal or morbid sense, but as one who ages and, so, may not be the demographic this song is intended for. But in recent years, I have come to realize Death is the only thing that walks with us every day of our lives through all of our good and bad. I can think of nothing that defines a true love better than that. I embrace her when the time comes. In the meantime, I am thankful for the passion Evior brings to her music - makes life more pleasant.

This song and video represent exactly the feeling I had when my grandparents, who were like my parents, died. It hits hard. Eivør is amazing.

This song touches me deeply ... both voice and lyrics. "Death and the Maiden" is a fairly common motif, but this song and the accompanying video are exceptionally beautiful. Well done, Eivør!

Basically, in order for you to love someone, the old you have to die. You have to face the fact that you are going to die and let anything unnecessary fall away from yourself, in order to find something truly nurturing. Death in this video is a symbol of dying, the whole song is a summoning of true love.

One of the best videos I've ever seen.( concept, lyrics, choice of actors....) I'm wordless. My true lover is with me What ever is true is with me.

I really like the symbiosis between the video and the audio. The duality. Gets me every time. One of the few songs where I would prefer to watch the video at the same time as hearing the audio.

The talent is indisputable, but does the magic come from the language or the history and culture? I'm Welsh and this lady is simply Awesome.

I just discovered Eivor last week and am obsessed with her sound! I love the way it's evolved over her albums. Her sound touches some part of my heart that I reserve for my "favorite" singers. She's clearly jumped way up to the top of the list. I can see her albums being something I play for personal enjoyment many years to come.

Having just lost my father-in-law whose ancestry is Northern European I love the scenes of the dying people being led to the boat all dressed in white. They looked so at peace with death in a noble way. Great video!

The more i think about it, the more i get to the conclusion that in the "true love" setting, the subject is *not* eivor but the reaper himself. He stands in the spotlight and the whole story is about him. True love - even if not mutual - can be felt by anyone, even the reaper. True love causes you to get rid off all your harmful sides and become anew, like him.

This is something so deeply touching it must be out of this mortal world! And it is. The video is the main character, the song comes behind. But they play well along together. I cry when I watch it. It should be shown to people who are dying or facing The Death otherwise. 'Nordic noir' at its artiest.

Somewhat reminds me of Greek mythology about Hades and Persephone. I know it’s not exactly the same, but in a way it’s similar, because of the dark, prince from the underworld falls in love with a beautiful young maiden who represents youthful beauty, Spring, rebirth, life. Actually there are a lot of stories that have a similar background. For example, Beauty and the Beast, Phantom of the opera & Christine, Dorian Gray & Sibyl Vane, and even Count Dracula & Mina

What a beautiful piece. The storyline and music complement the other. So once I saw that there was a longer film I had to see it for myself because so much is left out of the video. Fleshed out (so to speak) it is perfect. I love the ending when Death realizes he is no longer Death. Everybody gets exactly what their hearts desire in the end.
