And most people think their own language is cheaper than English (which have a very large number of words). It's like Lothar said, because most people doesn't speak English as native language.

My mom suddenly passed away 11 days ago. I can't describe what this song does to me - it cuts my heart open and gives me consolation at the same time. I stand by my Mother and keep her in my heart. Thank you for your talent, Eivør.

The singing style and the language sounds so much like Icelandic, but some of the melodies sound so Irish (where I'm from). It's like being somewhere very far away but right at home at the same time .

Just for more information, you are pretty close. She is Faroese (Faroe islands, between Iceland and Scotland. Danish territory.). Faroese is one of the old Norse languages and is extremely close to Icelandic and Norwegian. Good ear!

I love the Scandinavian and Irish folklore , the music and way of life - they are wonderful and really very close to each other !! Lots of love from Germany !! 😘

It's amazing when you hear human beings using instruments to mimic animal sounds, e.g. whale, horse, etc. I love this song because I found whale and dolphins in this melody.

I'm Belgian(Flemish) and I can sing this along remarkably well without too much effort to get the sounds and language right.

My grandmother is the closest to a true mother I've ever known. She helped to raise my sisters and me, and has always been such a kind, beautiful woman. I've hoped to someday take her with me when I visit Europe, though I do not know how likely that will be as the years keep passing....
