Einstein reacting to a collar for the first time
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Einstein developed dermatitis under his wing, so we had to put a collar on him to prevent him from aggravating the wound. It was his first time wearing a collar, and the process of putting it on wasn't smooth. There was a lot of growling, struggling, and flailing as he tried to adjust to it. I began recording after he calmed down a bit. This was not easy for Jeff or me to do emotionally, but we want what is best for Einstein.
🐦
Einstein Parrot is a very talkative African Grey Parrot! He lives with us in our home in Texas and was hatched on June 15, 1997. Einstein is a silly, smart, and popular parrot who loves to talk and entertain! (He is NOT the "Einstein" that was featured on the TV show Animal Planet.)

It’s so difficult to have to do things for our pets healing, which they don’t understand. Keep up the good work.
Such kind gentle voices. I wish my mom was half that loving when I was growing up.
SO HARD! You have my complete sympathy. It's heartbreaking. Jeff obviously loves that bird so much!
"He's got a pair of pliers on his face" lol. So true.
Poor Einstein! Feel better buddy! Hang in there Marcia and Jeff!
Oh the baby ! That collar looks big He needs a smaller collar like the one Symon Parrot wears at times

Hi Marcia, please try to find an older video of Symon the African grey parrot. She had a fabulous PONCHO. It was soft, seem to be tee shirt fabric. She doesn't wear it anymore because she has stopped plucking. It didn't seem to bother her at all. I'm sure it would suit Einstein better. I don't think it had any snaps or velcro.

I hope you get well soon Einstein
".. a pair of pliers on his face.." 😂 Aaaahh poor baby... So hard to explain to an animal why things they don't like need to be done for their own good. He'll get used to it, he has to. And there will be distractions in his lovely home.
It's so cute how you guys interact with Einstein. I doubt there could be a better place for this bird to be than with you.
oh i know how hard this must have for you but it’s best for einstein ❤
When I was rehabbing Tonka for 4 years we had to go the collar route for awhile and it was extremely sad and difficult. He couldn’t eat his food and he had no way to use his feet to play with toys or anything. Needless to say we tried. I had to remove the collar and let Tonka be Tonka. I had to put all my faith in God and Tonka. Extra misting with aloe water helped him greatly. Tonka was sooooo stressed and it’s not ok. It’s not natural and it basically paralyzes them. They are no more independent. I’m sorry I have to see this. Please get another opinion… this is torture for him.

No, it's definitely NOT okay! Poor Einey. When my 18 year-old Grey began to pluck his feathers it truly broke my heart. It was all I could think about all day. You feel so helpless, wanting them to be happy.

Please don’t make him wear the collar he will. Get very depressed. Imagine in someone cut your arms off and you couldn’t put your arm to your mouth to feed yourself. They can’t climb they can’t do anything. I hope you realize after trying it’s not a positive thing. I know u love him and only want to help but this isn’t the way. You got to let go and let GOD with this one.

Be careful. My African Grey is 45. When she was young we put a collar on. She quit eating. Almost died. We cut it off just in time.
aww bless him. We are all thinking about you Einstein. There is an African grey called Symon on youtube who had the same issue. He wore a soft wool poncho for a bit and it seemed to have done the trick. x

Oh my goodness Einstein you're just so smart, I loved that he said All done, when you took it off him.
So difficult to watch, but your parents love you and are doing what’s best for you. Einstein you are a brave boy and did amazing. ❤
Bless his little heart! “All done” ❤❤
Was it his little wing? 😢 The couple r soo sweet!! Get better soon Einstein!! ❤
I know my Stormy Timneh would never allow me to do a collar.I do not know what I ever would do. Best of luck to you both .🤗❤️💝

I don't think this is gonna work, poor baby, he's thinking what r they doing to me? Heal Einie, Sweetie!!! ❤
Oh. I'm so sorry you/Einstein are having such issues. Honestly I've noticed some changes in his appearance since I've been back watching everybody here on KZread . I sincerely hope he recovers. I know from experience how difficult feather plucking can be. Sending positive thoughts your way.
GOD bless you Einstein ❤❤❤
Let's hope my bad boy escape artist adjusts. Sweet Einstein. Jeff is do gentle snd patient with him. Get better, Sweetie, and good luck, Marcia and Jeff! ❤❤
More snaps won't help. Been there done that. The ones I said I made for a friend's cockatoo were a ring cut out of a solid piece and then layers of Fringe that I sewed onto it. Then it was slipped over the head.
It reminds me of a medieval ruff collar which was very fashionable in the Victorian age. Its daring but Einstein looks very good in one! ❤❤
Poor Wee Einstein🥹He’s gonna outsmart you every time!
Tell him looks smart from me ,its very manly color .
❤ Love you, Einstein! Keep strong you all! I’m so sorry you are going through this! J & M, you both are AWESOME! 😊
You are doing awesome Einstein and so are your humans!
I love you African grey parrot
Sweet baby
I think with your love and encouragement made it so much better to put on the collar! ❤❤❤❤❤you Einstein. 😊
Poor boy. If only you could make them understand that it helping them! You are such wonderful caring bird parents.
Awww....get well soon, Einstein!! You're lucky to have such great parents! ❤️💜💋

The parrot donut
Look at Symon under the name Dana...Symon has a cape on looks like layers of felt cut rounded like the feathers and he or she doesnt bother it.
You're doing great, and so is Einstein. ❤ This stuff is so hard. I worked on getting a harness on kiki and she screamed until I took it off. 💔 He's got this! So do you!
It's tough when you're just trying to help them. And secretly, he does look pretty cute with it on! My grey may need to wear one as well. She's already a plucker and there is a suspicious spot on her wing pit.
Awkk his little face😢😢 I'm sure Einstein knows mum and dad are just trying too help he is very lucky too have great parents .. I have little parakeet and I love him they just melt your heart such gentle and peaceful and gift from God .. 😊 :)
Get well soon Einstein we love you!❤❤ Such beautiful boy!❤
Get better soon Einstein. Definitely a hard thing to go through for anyone. Hope it all works out. It’s good the dermatitis wasn’t too severe.
It's alright, Einstein. This is is just till under your wing gets better. You did good. ❤❤
I had to put a collar on my parrot. I used foam pipe insulation & closed it with tape. It wasn’t so big. He still managed to get his beak underneath and chew it off but he could stand w/o being off balance. Prayers for a full recovery!
Sending love Einstein
a bird is not only a talking machine, love, emotions, respect, you consider Einstein as your child, but Einstein sees it differently
Awwww, but needed, 💕 Symon, one other African Grey has soft, knitted or lightweight "ponchos", and these ponchos work extremely well for them. Einstein will get used to it. ❤
Bless him, ❤
Oh einstein. I used to make collars like that for a friend's cockatoo. The ones I made had Fringe on them so that the bird would mess with The Fringe. It's helpful to distract them
Aww beautiful einstein marcia mouse and jeff will look after you soon you will get used to the collar god bless you all xx 🤩🤩😍😍🐿🐿🐿🐿
You are doing an excellent and loving job. My full admiration ♥️All the best for Einstein♥️
I feel for all 3 of you!
Perhaps several "laps" (around and around) so the opening is away from the end? With velcro indispersed?
I doubt he would ever get used to that, it would be like torture for him , poor baby, l also feel for u Marsha, and Jeff ,u r so loving and caring for ur feather baby❤
thank you for the great care you give to this lovely red-butt chicken!! There is a wonderful umbrella cockatoo here in southern Idaho named Sweet Pea who wears a collar also and it has allowed her to regrow a large amount of chest feathers. Sweet Pea is on the channel The Parrot Lady and her collar is made of felt.
Me and my wife understand. We have been through the same thing with our cat and another cat we had . They take days off our lives don’t they? will be watching Einstein’s progress. God bless your family and be safe.
Einstein is a good boy he had no issues putting on his collar😊❤❤❤
Poor baby. It's got to be hard for all of you! ❤
😂❤Ohhhh he’s so cute! But probably Annoyed 😩
Just a thought, but would Einstein do any better with the type of collar that Danita puts on Newman, her African Grey? its not so heavy and is made all in one so that they can't undo it and to get it on, it just slips over his head.
@coloursofnature-art
14 күн бұрын
I was thinking the same thing! I think Danita makes them herself and she just cuts a hole for their heads to go in, but they are definitely lightweight and Newman seems fine with it, although not overjoyed!
What if you made the Velcro go in a zigzag pattern. Surely if he undoes the Velcro in one direction he will continue to pull in the same direction? I have 2 CAGs with one a minimal plucker on her chest. I really feel your pain over this.
Poor baby! Prayers ascending for all 3 of you!❤
Jeff you are awesome with Einstein, and Marcia mouse reassurance to ein, best bird parents ever❤get well soon baby ❤
My thoughts are with you, Einstein ❤
Oh my heart❤😢
Hope you get well soon, Einstein. We live you!!
Would a little sweater vest do the trick? Snake Discovery's Emily and Ed has a macaw who has skin and feather issues like Einstein, and she wears little sweater vests. I think it feels less restrictive because she can still move as normal and flap her wings, so she forgets she has it on. Feel better soon, Einstein!
@einsteinparrot

Their Macaw, Cheyenne, is much bigger. Macaws and Cockatoos are much more tolerant of things like that. Einstein shouldn't need anything at this point. His wound is healing with the cream.
So difficult for Einstein and you guys. You are wonderful with Einstein, gentle, calming, reassuring. Maybe if the collar were a smaller band but would still keep his wing pit unreachable?
Get better soon Einstein. You actually look cute in that cape, but maybe you feel that your street cred’s gone out the window! All the best to you, Jeff and Marcia ❤🇬🇧🏴
I saw a video where a lady used a couple of hair scrunches instead of a collar and the bird coped much better with it, wish I could remember where I saw it
Poor Einstein ❤ cones are so hard but it will help you get better sweet boy ❤
Maybe one of those outside harness type thingies they have for birds would work?
My goodness, they are so intelligent these birds. Find immediately the right way to get rid of something that hinders them in their movements……😱
Its always sad when Einstein sounds like an animal. Hes not sad. Hes going to enjoy taking that collar off!
It's a shame you don't have a bird that's amazingly smart and resourceful or anything. Here's hoping he heals quick and completely!
I went through almost 20 of these in a week with my Senegal. Poor guy!!! Love you all.
Sweet Einstein, 🇨🇦
I love you Einstein! Marcia & Jim only want you to heal.
Try making a felt collar that you can pull over his head. That is what I had to do with one of my birds. I love your videos!! Einstein is such a cutie.
Speedy recovery sweetheart, then the collar will come off. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Einstein we want you toget better❤❤
Awww poor Einstein and poor Jeff and Marcia, I know it hurts you guys too.
Possibly a solid piece of felt that can be slipped over his head? He'll continue to try to take it off but I think the more often you try, the more comfortable he'll get with it. It will take time and patience. ❤
Too smart Einstein!!!
Einstein needs and wants TLC
He hurt wing,Awww Einstein becareful
theres other ones that are not as wide. Iago had some pretty nice ones that were more like a scrunchy
Aww dont worry you are good boy and everthing. Is gonna bo ok l pray for him. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ein feel better soon and be good to Jeff and Marcia they are trying to help you heal I love you sweetie ❤❤❤❤
Poor little dude. You've probably already tried this, but I trimmed the collar I bought for Winston so he could climb up the side of his cage while wearing it or step onto a perch. (Of course, he wore that collar for all of five or six seconds...it did not go well.)
