copright on such a song is a shame

what i find interesting is that the lyrics change with the situation. Most are about the suffering under capitalism, but the spanish one is about the civil war, and the yiddish one is about the resistance of the Jewish partisans fighting against a regime that wants them dead

Well, the flag represents more so the communist Korea rather than geographically/geopolitically the northern state. North Korea claims all of the Korean peninsula.

@@RE-pl7nl North Korea doesn't have this song. "Einheitsfrontlied" is the song for the solidarity between Communism and Social Democracy in the era of Eisler & Brecht. In my opinion, because North Korea oppose the Social Democracy, they have never sung this song up till now.

@@purnmom it was solidarity against fascism, no more, no less. Social democracy showed up it's face in 1914 and didn't change anything till Adolf Hitler came into power. So this song was a call to join forces in fight against nazis, wich was totally ignored. So I suppose that North Korea has at least similar rights for this song

The instrumentals of the german version are pure eargasm

The Yiddish version is like an entirely new song.

These are all good versions but the most distinctive is the oddly mellow Polish version. It’s a shame that the subtitles are a strange gibberish (an odd mixture of Dutch and English) or missing for many of these but then that’s auto-captioning for you (and I wouldn’t understand actual Dutch anyway).

Even if you hate communist states, you can't deny the positive effect they had on other democracies who needed to step up their scientific, social programs and worker's rights to keep up. It's not enough but without communism as a direct competitor we'd still be backwards on several rights.

Shame we don't have a Brazilian Portuguese version of this song.
