That version with Bohm is glorious. I see the DVD many many times. Weikl singing di tal "modo" punirvi in acto III... is wonderfull.... what a powerfull voice. I think Bohm LOVED this opera.

Bernd, it's amazing to hear your talk. I love your deep velvety voice and always enjoy your Sachs on Sawallisch's CD. I heard your Falstaff in Tokyo in the early 2000s. I'm Japanese and have been secretly tickled for many years when Conte d'Almaviva says 'tasca rimasta' near the end of Act III. It indeed sounds like Japanese meaning 'Thank you for your help.' I don't much understand German and am not really sure if you are mentioning this phenomenon, but it makes me happy to hear you say ''助かりました in Japanese. Danke schön [tasca rimasta]!

Ich dachte auch Herr Weikl spräche Japsnisch. Es gibt noch andere Italienische Wörter, die in Japan zu peinlicher Betroffenheit führen können. 85
