Our visit to the top floor of the Eiffeltower in Paris in Dec 2023.
I just went to the top last week. Eiffel Tower opens from 9:30 AM but security checks open from 9:15 AM. The Tower has 3 levels: 1st floor, 2d floor and top. Tickets for the top are limited and sell out every day. I got my top tickets 1 month up front via the official website. It was 28€ per person. Ther are 3rd party companies who also buy up the top tickets, and then offer them as guided visit or in combination with a Seine river cruise or dinner arrangement. However beware of these as these tickets are way overpriced, sometimes they are asking 200€ per person. If you were able to buy top tickets online upfront, do avoid the first timeslot of 9:30AM. Why? Because there will be huge lines of people queing then for the first security check as the Eiffel tower also offers some Top tickets the same day (first come first serve). If you select an afternoon or evening slot for visiting the top, then you won't have the big lines of people trying to buy top tickets the samez day (as those tickets will be sold out). When I visited last week, I had top tickets for 9:30AM. We were at the tower at 9AM and there was allready aq big line of people queing. Luckily, there is a separate line for the 1st security check for people who already have tickets. However there was also a lot of people in that queue mostly because of those 3rd party companies offering guided tours of the tower. We were lucky and the tour lady let us pass in front of a big group of people, so when at 9:15AM the security checks opened, we were the first in line. Once passed the first security checks, you are then under the tower. We went directly towards the elevators who take you to the first and 2nd floor. Since we had tickets for the top we also did not have to do the 2nd queue which is the ticket office queue that you could see in this video. This queue can be 2h long! So again make sure you book your tickets up front. Once on the 2nd floor we directly went to the elevator for the top. We were amongst the first group of people going to the top and we virtually had the top for ourselves for about 10min. After 15 min the top was already very crowded. After the top we went down and took our time to visit the 2nd and 1st floors. 1 last pro tip: If you are anable to buy top tickets online, then just buy 2nd floor tickets, so you can take the shorter queue for the first security check. Then run to the ticket booth and hope there are still top tickets available. As said before, we went up to the top for the first availeble slot (9:30AM) however by the time we were down (aroune 11AM) the top tickets for that day were already sold out. Is the top of the Eiffel tower worth it? Yes! But not at stupid high ticket prices, so don't be fooled by those companies offering combo tickets for stupidly high prices.
