What gets me is that he talks about how in his age, he felt "the earth underneath his feet", as if to point out the sort of mystery that a child has when finding out what dirt feels like for the first time. Then we start to grow older. No longer do we have this fun-loving fascination with the world anymore. Hearts are hardened by our experience. So we turtle. Growing our own little bubbles. Til we want to push out of it again, "Grew tired of hiding in the shelter I built... Built it all up for so long, it was only a matter of when I'd find out I was wrong, and learn to let go." Then the final part is so beautiful to me. I was told I could be anything I wanted to be But conflicting opinions have led me to see I was born to be everything you see in your dreams A catalyst of providence, a glitch in the seams... As if to say, that in our age, we follow what we're told, only to realize the dead end. Where our sense of home and love we were a part of is now a longing in our hearts, we compensate for acquiring this love with gratification and validation, and one of the ways this manifests is through sourcing your opinions from others... "what should I do?" you ask them. Then you play this out, because they are conflicting opinions versus the gentle suggestions of the heart. Where the heart nudges you forward in one direction, it's often muddled with the opinions of others. Following others rather than following your heart feels more like chains. So you break free. That now it's about achieving everything you could possibly do. "A catalyst of providence, a glitch in the seams..." The literal definition meaning, one who initiates the spiritual care or protection of God, the following phrase supporting this message that in order to initiate this care, one must stand out, "a glitch in the seams..." That in your achievining of everything that you can, of your wildest imagination, you invoke the spiritual care of protection of God. You follow a higher purpose in this way, and therefore standout as a glitch in the seams. It's a story of growing up. It's just fucking incredible to me that he can say all this, with just a few lines. Absolutely beautiful writing.

In my youth, I felt the earth move underneath my feet I knew my place, and kept time blissfully out of harm's reach But time takes its toll and makes fools of the beggars Hardens all hearts with desired endeavors Shell games, all routine in repose I grew tired of hiding in this shelter I built Of small empty promises and traces of silt I built it all up for so long It was only a matter of when I’d find out I was wrong And learn to let go I was told I could be anything I wanted to be But conflicting opinions have led me to see I was born to be everything you’ve seen in your dreams A catalyst of providence, a glitch in the seams It’s not right, but it’s what you need Now my past is not the residence I choose to reside And my future's just a context, ephemeral, implied It’s not you, it’s not me It’s now and everything in between And that’s why I harbored the will to keep moving my feet That’s why these calloused lungs are the only way I know how to speak So where are you now, and where were you when you were me? Have I proven anything, or traveled full circle again? Because I know how much I’ve grown And the world is not a bitter place, despite what you’ve shown I will become everything that you said I could not And be there for everyone that you forgot I will lead the way back home

Everyone has a talent that can be fostered and grown. The problem is when they compare their talents to others and just stop because they feel they're not as good. Social media is an antithesis to humanity.

I've just graduated from college (only one in my family) and in my degree of architecture there were no jobs because of the pandemic. For the past 8 years many people around me told me to my face I couldn't do it, my family, friends, mentors, even professors. I was really down, but when it came out I listened to it on repeat and it helped give me the confidence i needed to succeed. I now have multiple interviews lined up with firms that are really impressed with my work. I am so grateful for the positive influence of Eidola.

Hey its 6 years late. But Andrew came from a very toxic household. It wasn't about fingerpainting. He was constantly shut down about his art, abused emotionally and it took a lot out of him. Years later, he went on to have a suicide attempt. He's now in therapy for everything. You'll never know someone's story until they speak up. Never laugh at a situation without knowing all the facts. 😊

I think that he kinda literally burned his dreams of doing artsy stuff, because "it's not needed, and you need a real job", like many artists get told. He burned his paintings, clay models, casette recorder, only to find out, years later, when he has got a "normal" job, that this is not what he wants to do, and that he's wasted his time. So he goes back to his old passions of doing creative stuff instead of sitting behind a desk and doing computer stuff like he was told to do. And he finds out that even though he thought that he had burned it all and given it up, there is still a lot of worth left from his youth, and from the passions he used to have, but was forced to trade in to live a "normal" life. I'm open for corrections :)
