I just want to add my thanks to all the others. The directions included with this filter are the worst of all the filters I have used in the past. Your video and verbal instructions are excellent.

Thanks. This video sure helped me. I was wondering if they forgot a piece of tubing, before realising I might have to cut it in two. The instructions really suck, thank God for helpful folks on KZread!

I bought a 2213 classic today. Exactly the same setting up as this one. Instructions were absolute rubbish but luckily I figured it out with help of youtube video's like this. Now its in the tank running and I can see its a very good filter. Runs very quiet and has cleared up the tank very well. Worth the money and effort. Ill be buying another one for my other tank actually. Im only going to consider external canister filters from now on. Yes I like this product.

I think Eheim should pay you for putting up such a comprehensive how to video. Calling their instruction manual hopeless is actually an understatement. I would have loved to see you actually put this in the aquarium.

Thank you for putting the camera down so we can see things clearly! It's also always helpful to have a real time video that is not chopped up with unnecessary edits that make us wonder what happened in the cuts. Great video. Thank you.

A little trick as an additional info: As mentioned in the video, the hose is quite stiff and it is difficult to attach to the tip of plastic tube. Do not force it or you may damage it. Instead take a lovely mug, fill it with boiling water. Dip the end of the hose into the water for a few seconds and then try connecting it with the plastic tube. You will see it is now much easier now...

+Paul Mann - these instruction manuals are completely useless. They are more "safety instructions" to cover the companies from law suits than to actually help you set it up. The company does not even have its own professionally made videos for customers. This is true not just about Eheim but for any damn gadget out there in the market. They should stop calling them "instruction manual".

Make more videos, I was sad to see this was your only one! You are a great teacher! Thanks again from Gastonia, NC p.s. Quick question: The filter sounds like an air bubble goes through it every now and then, I checked to see if the bubbler thing was too close to the intake, but it wasn't.

Thank you this is the first time I have understood because you did not rush through the descriptions. I was gifted my E2213 canister, so there was virtually no instructions available to me. One question though, If I may. What is the significance of the double tap connecters? Can one connector suffice instead of two in some instances? I have a 55 gal tank.

Have just aquired a 2nd hand marine reef tank that has the 2215 filter and no instructions. Thanks for taking the time to make the video...now I know how it works...now to work out how often to clean it out. Does this filter polish the water as I have noticed lots of very fine matter in the tank making it look like its too salty if you know what I mean. Salt levels are being taken care of....it just looks like 1000's of wee sparkly bits.

+Jean Balfour - I don't know if it is too late to reply. The larger tube goes into the bottom inlet of the filter (shaped like a J). The smaller pipe is for the top of the filter from where water comes out. In fact you can not fit one into the other.

I have 3-2215's and 1-2217 running on my 2 90gl tanks they are very easy filters to have and if you add a sponge filter on your intake you dont need to do any maintance for at least 6 months or more. Also to make it much easier on you if you are buying them new or getting new hoses cut about a 4 inch piece of hose and attach to your intake and outtake conections on the canister. Than connect your quick release couplings and your hoses. This will put the quick release couplings within easy reach every time you have to work on your filters. Also makes it easy to start the water syphon after cleaning your filter and sucking on the out take hose lol.

The intake is in your tank you wrap a medium or course pad around it food gets stuck on it the fish eat it and less of it gets into your filter. Its like an extra mechanical filter and you can clean it weekly to keep the flow high.
