First off, Islam is our #1 priority as a Muslim. We can not sacrifice our religion and its teachings for anything. There is no need to learn of such a culture by participating in haram. Who cares about spreading cultural information if you're going to displease Allah by doing so? It is explicitly stated in the quran and sunnah that music and the acts associated with music are haram. If you want cultural information, go do it the halal way, not by displeasing Allah. This is not a fatwa, this is a genuine advise and reminder for a Muslim brother. Our whole purpose in this life is to practice and spread our deen, that is simply what I did. As for the situation our muslim brothers and sisters are in around the world, is because we have watered down our deen. If we were strict in upholding the true teachings of the quran and sunnah, we would not be faced by these calamities. It is people like you who have put our religion on the back foot and disregarded it. Our religion, Islam, will always be priority #1, nothing else matters. May Allah open your eyes to the truth and keep you steadfast on the truth. Ameen @@Aaasim725
