Actually they aren't stupid. You think Egypt wants to fight Israel and the US by itself? That would be suicide. They will however fight once they have formed an appropriate military coalition in the region. Both 1949 and 1968 Egypt fought with an Arab coalition against Israel. They will again when the time is right. Bet on it.
