According to the manual the 28" unit comes with a set of dual function skid shoes: Plastic side for more delicate surfaces and Steel side for gravel and less delicate surfaces. Nice thinking EGO even though I would still prefer using the ARMORSkids used on the SNT2400 on the new unit.

I was excited to see the changes and many options this year when I was at the local store buying christmas lights. Failed to notice the bigger wheels, hand warmer, and the electric swivel on the 28". No regrets on buying last year as so far (Nov 26) we haven't had a snowfall in Manitoba worth using it on. The central wand on the 24" and the generally more rugged build was impressive enough and the throttles are more clicky (my only complaint on last year's). Bought mine last year because I couldn't find one in Feb/March 2022 and there was no way I was going through a second winter of that amount of snow. This year looks like it will continue to be a little lighter.

Thank you so much for making this first unboxing video I have been waiting for and now going to cleaning up my SNT2406 for sale TODAY!!! Based on the current unpredictable weather pattern on unusual thunderstorms popping out of nowhere even when the weather APPs are showing clear sky, I am going to upgrade to the SNT2807 even though I would prefer a SNT2807-4 or a 3-Stage Snowblower. Last few years we had dry summer with water ban and cold dryer winter in my area; however, considering the amount of rain this year and averagely 1 inch of rain is equivalent to about 10 inches of snowfall I am going to prepare myself ahead of time. I usually run the current unit on ECO mode only and the 28" definitely sounds a lot quieter on the ECO mode. When it comes to heavy snow/wet snow my shoulders & back usually gets tens up when trying to turn the heavy snow build up chute and the main unit itself so the investment on the electronic chute and turning assistance will save me the traveling frequency, time & money to visit the chiropractor and the message treatment during winter season. The extra weight and ground clearance on the 28" unit will be a very welcome addition to keep the unit down with less front lifting when eating through the heavy thick and tall snow pile I usually get as my house is the first house on a long curb for the snowplow to dump the first load of snow buildup from the curb. Great video and thank you!👍

Now that they have a decent power directed shoot, they should make a button that sets that position even when turning. 1 Stage handled last winter fine for me, snow up to 6 inches except the one day we had 5 inches of wet stuff was a struggle and went through the batteries much quicker. Main issue is that the 1 Stage can clog easier and it doesn't have the tire motors so you have to manually push it through which can be rough depending on snow fall. For a medium size driveway and sidewalk where you don't expect more than 8 inches or so it does fine. I had the version with the metal auger and twin 5 amp hour batteries.

IMHO I have seen these EGO units (and the Toro Electrics as well) and the one thing I notice is that they are light weight with tons of torque (due to electric power). The result is that the machine gets tossed about quite easy and I see this in the review videos when streamers hit heavy snow (such as what is typically left at the end of someone's driveway). I do find it is important to have that weight when using big power as the unit will plane quite easily up or side to side and the result is a wrestling match.

Not sure how it will handle a heavy load from the snow plow given the fact the Eco is lighter weight than my Ariens but I think it will be fine. I suspect you usually get less snow than those of us along the lake shore. I’m comfortable the battery will last for me to do the entire drive and that was my concern. Great presentation, Check the ejection impeller to see if it's metal also. Hopefully it is. Heated grips are an excellent feature. I've used my gas one without gloves in -20 deg F and my hands never got cold at all. They will definitely cost you some battery time though. Anything that makes heat or cold uses up a lot of power compared to motors. Good luck with your new toys. I wonder if the auger spins faster with two batteries. I thought I heard you say that you were only using one so far. I don't know if either of these would do it for me since I'm on a mountain in New England near Canada. I get 3 ft snowstorms often. This is probably the brand I would choose though. Unless they change their name to Cyberdyne, lol

  • @Jeo-What

Both auger and the impeller are metal. Gas snow blower does product good amount of heat and also heavier that requires more physical strength so the operator may not get cold. In the EV car world where the wheel fenders and headlights freezes up due to lack of heat from the engine to melt them same would apply to an EV snow blower. I tried 5 pairs of Amazon "waterproof" heated gloves with my EGO 24" snow blower and failed. The only pair that works but required constant recharge was from Costco that costed $200.00 so I rather put the $200.00 towards the snow blower. Since most heated glove uses 27.5Wh for one hours operation, a set of 12.0Ah would provide 1,344Wh so it may not effect too much runtime and without the need of recharging the gloves.

yes it's an update and still take all the EGO batteries but I would stay away from anything less than 5.0Ah not because of the shorter runtime but will overheat quickly unless used in extreme light snow. The main motor/auger/impeller are the same while the heated grip, joystick 2-in-1 chute control and turning assist are the new updates.

Thanks for the video review. How wide is the 28" from side to side, I don't have access to one to measure myself. The website doesn't give the full width of this. Would be nice if this would fit through my door to the back of my house. In the winter between me and my neighbors blowing snow, the only access I have to the back is through the back door of my garage. It would be greatly appreicated if you could measure and respond. Again thanks for the video.

Great video, thank you! I want to get excited about this snow blower, I really do! but just not sure it can handle Boston (new England) heavy/wet storms. I'm out in the middle of storms all the time and my old Ariens is totally covered in snow. Just can't see how all the (very cool) hand warmer buttons, light buttons and shoot handle will not have issues. Plastic side skids seem ridiculous (why would they do that). Plastic and real cold weather simply don't (won't) coexist. Heard compartment for batteries closes with just magnets? If true, nuts. If water/snow gets in battery compartment. assuming that's going to create bad problems. So want to get this....BUT! Thanks again.

I agree with you about the motorized chute control and for that reason I'd go with the 24 inch. The motorized chute seems unnecessary and IMHO more of a toy. That said, I've had two Ariens, years ago an 8 HP and whatever their current 30" is and the design of those chutes are terrible. I live in WI where Ariens is based and though they're pretty rugged I've always thought their equipment looked like something fabricated from parts from Ace hardware. A plus in that's it's easy to fix and keep working but many times not the best design for its intended use. The skids are intended to be sacrificial and if that's a concern I believe there are aftermarket skids you can buy made of steel. The inner fenders on most vehicles as well as underbody pans and deflectors (even some oil pans) have been made of plastic for years so that's actually a plus in my view. Engineered plastics can be just as good and sometimes better in many applications than metal. As for the battery compartment, from what I've seen on another video it's designed for ingress of water and snow. I believe there are wells with drains below each battery and the design protects and keeps the contacts dry so not something that's a concern for me. Frankly, I'm fed up with my current Ariens 30" blower. It's a beast to maneuver, doesn't throw wet heavy snow that far and I'm done with oil changes, spark plug changes, fuel stabilizers and carburetor tuneups. I'm just trying to decide if I really need the 24" or if I can get by with the single stage EGO.

To be honest I've had nothing but issues with Ego. I have their chain saw and string trimmer. The batteries overheat very easily which means I only ever got 15 minutes of continuous runtime out of it. Looking up on their riding lawnmower (similar battery setup to this it looks like), they get max 45 minutes of runtime. More time to charge than run and the overheating battery issue just makes it not viable for anything I've ever needed to do. For the amount of money these cost I expected better. When they run they are great, but they never run long enough.
