How to Clean a Battery Mowers Deck
Just wanted to share some tips on how I clean my battery lawn mowers deck. I used to use water in the past and I know that’s not correct so I don’t do that anymore. In this demonstration my mower deck is pretty dirty. I hope you find this video helpful in someway thank you so much for watching.

Thanks for another helpful video. Shared in February that I purchased the Ego 2156sp mower. More than pleased with how it has performed. Have since purchased the adjustable shaft trimmer with power load and line IQ and 765 blower because of your entertaining and helpful videos. After watching you clean your mower I also will adopt a regular deck cleaning routine. With lawnmowers, as in life, sometimes the least glamorous tasks are some of the most important. Keeping that underside free of buildup will help the blades do their job and mulch efficiently as you showed. Thanks again!!

I just hosed mine down and put the leaf blower on it and dried it real well with the battery out... hopefully it'll be OK? I'm a bit paranoid to put the battery in to test it before it's completely dry.......????

Be careful, water can void the warranty. I know a few people prefer using a hose.
I use 165 PSI air with my air nozzle right after mowing, works great!

Nice!
I use Tuff Stuff, which softens the grass, a broom to brush all the crevices, then rinse it with a water hose. Naturally my EGO blower dries everything, and I put the mower in the garage, clean like new.

I'll have to look into that, thanks for sharing Avid
I like using a plastic scraper,It doesn't scratch the plastic,scratches will help grass stick. Try spraying Pam cooking oil under deck to keep grass from sticking. The motor will have sealed bearing if u choose water,run the mower for a few minutes after to dry.

I spray with turtle wax hybrid ceramic from new with occasional top ups and spray it off after each mow. Stays very clean. I really like that the plastic won’t rust.

When you say "spray it off after each mow", do you mean spray it off with water using a hose?
@wdpftw
Жыл бұрын
@@stwhit yes I spray the underside of the deck off with a hose. I don’t spray into where the shaft is, just spray the clippings off the underside of the deck.
I will be wrapping my blades in a rag while cleaning the deck because with my luck I'll lob a finger off when my hand slips LOL! During one of your videos you said something that sounded like Howard Stern's voice and now I can't stop hearing it. LOL!

You talking about some folks just glancing at your videos Ha Ha......well I was here for the duration and it's satisfying to see a person take pride in a simple job like cleaning their mower. I just purchased the top Ego Self Propell and the powerload+ weed trimmer with the auto line load and auto feed. You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be keeping mine clean. I bought mine a week ago and so far very happy with it. I just wonder how the powerload/feed features will hold up to the dirt and grit that is normal with trimmers. By the way very nice video. You sound like the Bob Ross of KZread. Very relaxing. Thanks

Enjoy that and Thank you I do appreciate your comments and feedback
Tech made easy - big long term mistake to use a stainless steel scraper on the polycarbonate deck. Peo-le do that with painted steel decks too. BAD idea. The more you scratch that polished smooth polycarbonate deck, the more stuff will stick to it. For you to get back to normal, polish and buff your deck back to original smoothness. You have ruined the factory smoothness. Then simply use ceramic trim pads (I use cerekote) Let it sit over night to cure. Boom - you have a smooth deck that will wipe out by hand. If you HAVE to scrape it PLEASE use a plastic scraper.

I do the same thing and I also use a hard brush with my Kobalt mower
@TechMadeEzy

Hi Kevin thanks, the kobalt is a nice unit as well, what's your voltage on it? 80v?
i have the steel deck ego sp . i just use a stiff Bannister brush right after i have cut and it cleans it like new never needs air to clean it out it just brushes right off . i have heard of people using ceramic car coatings under the mower to stop it from sticking in the first place but i dont know if that works or how long it would last.
@TechMadeEzy

Daniel thanks and the ceramic coating is interesting, I won’t if that works
Nice job
I looked through your videos - when are you gonna show the blade sharpening kit.?

I'd use a plastic scraper, that metal one is scratching the underneath pretty badly

Would using a scrapper like this work on a Greenworks mower? Would a hard bristle brush be better?
@TechMadeEzy
3 жыл бұрын
I would just use a plastic scrapper they do the job, also cleaning after you mow especially in a wet grass situation is always a good idea as long as you have time. If not it hardens and you can use a scrapper for sure.
The best time mown the lawn is the late afternoon
I have been cleaning it with a rag. It was mucky when doing it. Won't that scraper scratch up the mower material?
@TechMadeEzy

That's OK it won't hurt, using a rag is good 👍🏼
Wipe deck after every use and this won’t be necessary
Great video. I use a brush to clean around the area around the blades. For the little holes l use a small tooth brush. I was thinking of using a product called awesome sold at dollar tree or .99 cent stores.

I'm no expert, but this isn't a cast iron skillet where It needs to be seasoned to get that non stick surface. But let us know if it works and see a video of how it's done before and after.
I sprayed mine too. Can it be damaged using the water hose?

Why not remove the blades first? It takes so little effort removing the blades after removing your battery. The blades are no longer in your way, and besides, you may now dress the edges up on those blades? :)
I be been using food saver for years.they work great,but the bags are pricy!

One advantage of a Honda... turn it out its side, blast it with water, rinse it off, start it, put it away... 2 minute clean up... For the money, they really REALLY should engineer a lawn mower so it can be hosed off... voided warranty lol...
