EFX Collectibles: The Armorer helmet, the Mandalorian Review.
Ойын-сауық
Hey Hyperdrivers, This is the EFX Collectibles Armorer Helmet from Season 1 of the Mandalorian. Made from original moulds. Let's compare it against a fan made, GEC Props (Geoff Curtis) x Hyperdrive Exclusive helmet. The results are.... Interesting.
Which one should remain in my Star Wars Collection in Australia?

Great video! They are both awesome looking helmets. Why not keep both?! I say both! 🥰
They are so different 🤔 I like the eyes on the EFX. Mabye a little bit too copper-ish color.... But I kinda like the shiny fanmade one best💛 Great video 👌
Great comparison video Luke; both are beautiful helmets. Tough choice; however, if I wanted screen accuracy I'd be going with the EFX. I suspect it will rise in value over time as well where as fan made non-license pieces are just that; fan made. Not taking anything away from Geoff as that helmet is beautiful plus is does have a pretty sweet autograph where I feel the EFX helmet should have also come with her autograph for the price point. But I've always felt EFX is a bit over priced for a mass produced product. Both very nice pieces; I'd be happy with either one.
I would keep both cause they both look awesome 😮😮 great review video 👍😎
Fantastic video brotha, me personally, I kinda like The HyperDrive's exclusive version just a little bit more.
This is the way!
To even more clarify how prop color works: GEC Props helmet is made "as we see it on screen"; EFX helmet is made "as it was as a prop". The difference between them is finish, because when show is filmed there is also made color correction. During that process some elements change color (for example Scout Trooper helmets and armors were beige-white as prop but after color correction they were snow white in the movie). Same is here. EFX helmet might looks more bronze/copper in color when shown without propper color correction, but it's color 100% accurate to real prop used in production.

There's a bit more going on than that I believe. Mainly I would suggest (but without multiple EFX armorer helmets I cannot verify) variance in the paint jobs from different EFX helmets. I will re state like in the video though these two helmets are from two different seasons where the screen used prop did change. My background is a colour darkroom printer, my eye for colour is pretty up there. The biggest difference I can articulate rather than colour correction is my room is pitch black so nothing reflective. Colour wise my tones tend to lean towards reds in the mid tones. Gabe's video for example leans towards yellows. You can't state the colour on this EFX bucket is 100% accurate to the real prop used in production. Not even EFX do that. It's a really good prop replica but It isn't their legend edition as an example and isn't 100%, paints the weakest link. But these are just my thoughts. Thanks for dropping by.

EFX dont get unlimited access to the props, they 3d scan, make molds and take pictures, thats about it.
WOW, that’s a tough decision for sure! As you had stated, both are killer offerings, but I’m kinda leaning towards the fan made version myself. As always, thanks for an amazing share and stellar comparison! MTFBWY
I would be pretty torn too. Both are amazing, ones too copper but I think the shape of it is more correct, the other is too golden and not weathered enough but there's something nice about it thou I can't pin point it. Still great pieces 😊
They definitely look very much like a historical Corinthian helmet design.
They are both very good. The GEC could use more weathering. It seems too bright when compared to some scenes and closer to the look in other scenes. The efx also looks closer to what we see on screen in some scenes and way off in others.. My main complaint about the efx is it doesn't look metallic to me. It reminds me of the finish on glazed pottery more than a metallic helmet.
For me its the EFX Just like the colour more and the finish And ofcourse EFX has the coa , plaque , stand , box Although Hyperdrive has the SE plaque
How ia yours this color? Do you use a color filter? Starwarsreplicas has one that is much more golden

If you use the box as a reference in both videos it's the only real indication. My mid's lean more towards reds, Gabes more towards yellows. But there is no doubt the paint jobs aren't the same. Gabe's version is a better rendition for sure.
GEC, all the way, every day. EFX not worth it for $800.
The color of te EFX is wrong. As you could see in the show is more 'gloden bronze' than that color. For me, the fan-made is perfect
Have to say I'm disappointed at how dull the EFX looks. It looks like plastic, not metal. I have one...seriously thinking about painting it.
EFX for the price need to be SE versions. The colour choice on the EFX just isnt attractive at all, if there are two or more helmets to chose from, the other colour should of been the colour they used.
The EFX looks cheap imo. Doesn’t come close to GEC x Hyperdrive
