Billiard here in the Phillipines is gambling! Isnt only a mere sport but literally you have to gamble sometimes with your life. That's why Bata's confidence to do such fancy shots was really magistic...There is no safes place for Bata's tremendous confidence to do such trick other than in tournament. Cuz if you simply does that here in some inconvenience places here in the Phillipines you might get beaten, stab or even shot by the people/by standers who put a bet on you that's the reality of the sport in you prefer to play places to places here.

Efren is more on 9-ball and 10-ball disciplines Efren can play snooker but it is not his forte, though once he did push snooker legend O’Sullivan to his limits when they played one on one

I remember Efren said in an interview that he intend to watch new players and amateurs because sometimes those guys hit some crazy shots and lucky shots that can be applicable into a match so when he got time, he practices those shots and polished them a little. Remember that video where he was standing in the audience and when he ask to take a shot he said "no pocket" then he did 2 wall bank thin shot? That's where he get his magic shots came from, Observation. Plus Efren started playing billiards since 8 years old and start playing with bets in the age of 9. There will never be another Efren "Bata" Reyes.

@@davidschneide5422 Agree. It was mentioned in the video that he trained himself and made himself an expert in doing certain shots (forgot the billiard terms) before he tried the big leagues. Without the training and his quick mind, he wouldn't be able to amaze the world as he did.

Back in the 70’s my father was a great pool player. He lost to Willie Mosconi at a tournament. Willie was so impressed with my dad’s shooting that they became friends. He came to our house once and stayed up all night playing pool in our basement. My brother and I got to play doubles with them. There is still a picture on our basement wall of the two of them that my mom took. I have a billiards book that he signed for me. Good memories.

The thing I love about this game is you can start to think you've seen every possible combination, position and solution, then something else happens. Just like life. Then some absolute wizard like this appears and makes your whole view look tiny and blind. Truly a legend.

I consider myself lucky to live and witness a legend who comes once in a lifetime.

He has been a good sportsman and humble person.

I really didn’t get the hype with him because I was so young before and my parents liked watching him. Now that you’re older, you realize how good at angle calculation he is. I only played billiards mobile games and it’s hard to calculate angles, speed etc. He’s a genius for even doing trick shots on a tournament when a small mistake will mean losing.

A truly GOAT and Legend of Billiard

I was 17 when this guy was making a name for himself. Didn't know much about Filipino's achievements until this guy popped up on TV. He is the Filipino Ambassador for me. Him and later Bustamante. It was an era of snooker legends but we started playing pool competitively within friends because of this man. We took all his ideas of fancy shots and it worked most of the time. Filipinio's finest Mr Reyes.

i used to play carom with old vietnemese guys in a little pool hall they owned. its the only game they played even tho they had regular tables. it really opened my eyes to how efren became so good. playing pool all day everyday with a carom background and incredible talent.

you forgot to mention that bustamante was helping reyes perform his ending trick shots.

Efren Reyes is the real GOAT and pride of the Philippines, Pacquiao has always been a phony. He loves to play the good guy role and have news outlets follow him around as he passes out the unfortunate of the Philippines all for show. Reyes is a class act and truly a humble person. All Pacquiao does is make excuses every single loss, that’s not what a class act would do.

His attitude is pure bliss. Such a humble human being.

3:50 if you watch the original video (by R3LIVE), in the background "Django" Bustamte told something to Efren and Efren responded with a smile on his mind: Django: Pasok mo na 'yan Pare... Efren: 'Wag, baka nakakahiya. (Django: Pocket it already bud. Efren: No, it would be shame). Efren did not want to end the rack with a "straightforward" shot. He was not risking it, he simply put some entertainment to what supposedly was an easy shot. He did it because he was 100% sure to pocket the ball where he intended to. I have not known anyone other than him doing such crazy-entertaining shot like that in an actual match.
