This Tutorial is NOT update to date for the Spaced Out DLC!! Pacus were changed to not just eat Algae but they also eat seeds now which makes them much more manageable! :D

Super easy indeed with seeds but doesn't get the polluted dirt for my poke shells...

I've seen a more automated pacu farm but I can't wrap my head around it. I like this setup more. Much simpler for my brain. Thank you.

This looks amazing! I'm itching to try it out on my next base. Just to clarify though, at 8:32 did you perhaps mean pacu fillets instead of eggs? I understand that it's meant to be an infinite source of sad fish meat, not eggs, and taking the eggs out would soon deplete the sad pacu reserves. So you are loading the pacu fillets there, correct? Thank you for this! To start my basic, not even fed, before plastic, early game fish farm - I dig around the fish I find and keep an eye on the resources egg count, having my dupes get and move any eggs ASAP to the holding tank via a non-powered automatic dispenser. My "happy fish" aren't all that happy for the first while, but they're left to keep that tank going (giving shells at the least), and I continue adding to the "sad fishy" tank from there. It helps get the calorie count climbing. But I'd like to start building those numbers now that we have the power and resources to automate it all, this setup is great! *eta * With a well placed door blocking sweeper access to the feeder, some cycle sensors to open it and briefly allow access now and then, and a lower amount set to the feeder, it is possible to keep pacus fed and happy without giving them *all* of the algae they would like... I wish I had those numbers to share tho.

Oooh that sounds great! Luckily Pacus are soooo much easier to keep fed now since with the release of the DLC they now eat SEEDS. Finally (!!!) something to do with all those billions of extra seeds that nobody needs.

Are you doing this in the DLC? Fish were changed. Also which tank has overcrowding - the big or the small one?

I haven't yet gotten the DLC, and am super curious about the same ^ as well.

To be more efficient you could feed them just 1 kilo of algae per day...

Yeah you can if you want to but it's tedious to make sure that each fish only gets a tiny bit

Probably changed since this video was made but at some point the fish will start to starve and stop reproducing meaning you just start wasting that 1kg.

This type of farming is not working as well anymore, like 40% of the fish will die before laying a egg, if you incubate them is even worse

I try to use this farm and after reaching 100 fish I drop to 40 in 30 ish cycles (and no eggs), the devs might change something

still a valid solution but you need to over do it to get them stable (like 100 plus)

Reproduction has dropped to 21% for 'glum' and 'overcrowded' now - at least in my game. :(

That's fine. The happy fish are designed to make more pacus. The glum/overcrowded just maintain their number and die off for meat.

@@halo007Mex Yes, otherwise they get a debuff to their reproduction rate.

You have to try to finish your sentence before ppl fall asleep. At least get yourself notes what you will be talking about .
