Effective Scenario-based e-Learning for Instructional Designers

I hate being pitched to just as much as you do, but if you're curious to see how I'm supporting L&D pros, instructional designers, and elearning developers beyond these videos, the link below has the details. No opt-ins, no upsells - just clarity to help you level up. Check it out: www.elearnings...
Elearning scenarios are NOT difficult. If you're starting out in e-learning and want to use a scenario, use THIS MODEL to get a head start and save tons of time.

Great explanation of a scenario based model. I don't especially care for the visual treatment of the template, but that's just graphics. Introducing two experts with different opinions is a great means to induce the leaner to reflect and analyze. My one caveat is when you are conducting task based training within a scenario environment that allows learners to go done the wrong path and see the results of that decision, you would never have two experts. Great stuff. I liked it so much, I have added you to my subscription list! Thanks.

You are a great teacher, Anna! Your deconstruction using this whiteboard/flowchart approach makes it crystal clear how to design one of these and gives a structure to keep me on track as I go!! So helpful, thank you! :)

I like the scenarios also because learners get more engaged if they are in a context similar to real world situations.

Great tutorial for scenario-based learning. It should be a great piece of Content with respect to behavior that allows for independent role-playing. With the help of that, a learner practices how to tackle real-life situations at their own understanding level without the help of anyone else.

This is great, thank you! I was just trying to put together a Haji Kamal style scenario and I was missing some key ingredients. You made it super clear!

Hi Anna, I just started as a learning designer recently and I have learnt so much from your videos. Could you give some advice to a designer just starting out? What other tips and tricks should a new designer know to write a e-learning session?

Hi Anna, This is cool stuff. I liked the way you present the information and portraying scenarios in whiteboard format. This is the ultimate place some one looking to excel in Instructional Design. I am a newbie to eLearning design so was looking for tutorials to create scenarios using eLearning authoring tools. Could you please make such kind of tutorials?

Hi Sarah, the best place for articulate tutorials, something structured would be a place like LinkedIn Learning - all platforms and all kinds of software - plus they're organised well. Another place you might check out is www.masterstoryline.com/ if you're interested in going deep on the tools Ryan and I use to develop our interactive stories. :)

Hi Bugarin :) Yes, Haji Kamal - you can do this using Articulate Storyline if you wanted to, but realistically this could even work as a sequence of slides, that show different parts of the model as you move through them... You're creating a page that has an image that is overlayed with hotspots that each lead to a new scenario question. Glad you found it inspiring for your work :)

@@bugarinharry9941 Articulate for interactive video, but there is also Rapt Media - exclusively focused on this - so far Articulate Storyline has been able to do everything.. depends where you want to specialize or build your skill (or outsource!)
