Spoilers: Director: “Alright Tobin, so in this scene we’re essentially going to be put you in a trap that will waterboard you and this small child with blood. You good to go?” Tobin: “Let’s do it.” Tobin Bell is such a class act. Whether it be the makeup he wore in the first movie that made the crew not want to eat with him, to having his character get killed off in the third movie, and the later movies regretting that decision and just desperately shoving him in the rest of the series as much as possible, to even Dripsaw in Saw 3D. The man is 81 years old, and no matter how ridiculous these movies get, he still keeps coming back and giving it his all. Gotta respect that.

Or even Detective Tapp? At least Saws I - IV had that easy, early 2000s, we-genuinely-do-not-care-what-race-you-are casting going on. The contrast between that and the "hands up; don't shoot" mess that was _Spiral_ is stark.

I like how everyone’s major criticism with the movie is that most of the characters die because of the arbitrary time limit placed upon them, when usually our criticisms are about the worthiness of the contestants being tested in the first place. Here in Saw X, they’ve finally managed to gather a cast of characters that the audience can agree deserve to be tested, but once they are tested and once they pretty much follow through with said tests, the only reason they die isn’t because they were unwilling to play, but simply because they ran out of time. I really did love this movie, but the fact that this was the reason most of the players lost made it feel like the film took two steps forward and one step back. Still one of the better Saw movies for sure though.

It reminds you that the main MO of Kramer himself is to test the human instinct for survival. So seeing people manage to mostly succeed some of these, even though you don't want them to, really lines up with what you know about ol' Jiggy, and that's been somewhat missing from prior films with copycats and impossible traps.

Oh for sure, and I liked watching it a lot, but I mean, he was RIGHT THERE. He could SEE that they were displaying the survival instinct IN-PERSON, and yet he let them lose to a technicality? I was almost expecting him to intervene and stop the clock for some of them because he could SEE that they were doing what he asked of them, but nope. If he did that, my opinion of the film would have gone up SUBSTANTIALLY.@@ProfessorHeavy1

And I think that on top of that, her entire scam apparatus has been thoroughly dismantled. From what I could tell, the papers that John put in the money bag that Cecilia took at the end showed that he liquidated all her funds. So she's basically been cast back even FURTHER behind Square One. And she can't exactly go to the authorities to track him down because, well, then they'd have to look into HER background; which would screw HER over too. John basically put her into a situation where all she can do is observe as her entire scamming empire is dismantled before her very eyes.

It is safe to call Jigsaw the protagonist. That word does not mean much about the morality of the character--they just typically are the moral actor. Protagonists are just the main character! The antagonist is also similar, where it is just the actor working against the protagonist. For example: in a Darth Vader-led show, Vader would be the protagonist and the rebels/Luke/Obi-Wan would be the antagonist.

Putting people in traps that we know deserve to be in it and watch how if they have the will to live and change there ways. Honestly the new best Saw film. Some small things I liked: Spoilers ahead! “Hello Zepp” is used in a triumphant “you two fucked up” moment rather than a mind bending twist reveal. What Cecilia did explains a bit why Amanda made her traps inescapable later on. Cecilia subtly sabotaging the others like telling Valentina the incorrect way to use the saw. 80+ year old Tobin actually being waterboarded for the scene is commendable. And of course…Hoffman!

He doesn't like Drinker. He doesn't respect him or see him as an equal in the realm of film criticism. And lets be honest. If its between him and Drinker, its an easy choice for Mauler. The thumbnail doesn't surprise me one bit. Hopefully they're still on good terms with him personally, but I don't see him coming back on EFAP anytime soon. Its too awkward

@@jwc-lw3sp Long story short, he claimed that Drinker was a gateway channel to the Alt-right/viewers are primarily right-wing and his evidence was "a friend who is right wing that is subbed to Drinker" and one time where Drinker was a guest on Russel Brand's podcast (who YMS also doesn't like) so a bit of guilt by association thomg going on there too. On top of that he didn't do any research on Drinker's channel, he watched 3 recent videos - none of which were truly representative of Drinker's content - and basically went all snobby saying he's a true film critic and consumer because he attends as many film festivals as possible and watches indie movies while Drinker probably doesn't. Basically the anime elitist argument of "you're not a true fan unless you watched obscure anime number 25!" Then there was calling Drinker and Anti-Woke conspiracy channel (based on nothing more than video titles) as he criticises the Hollywood system and the message - as Drinker calls it - with no evidence. Despite Drinker showing receipts and evidence any time he makes a video criticising the Hollywood system.

How has there not been a trap that’s a play on the magician cutting a girl in half trick?

i guess the closest thing would be the trap with the two dudes, the saw and the girl on top of it.
