I feel bad for Rags. He’s trying to make an argument using a metaphor to a person who doesn’t understand metaphors.

If I critique something, and someone likes that thing less, I didn't rob them of their feelings, they just started paying attention to those critiques I mentioned in that thing.

And nothing is stopping them from still enjoying very flawed works, you can just look at it in a different light. Even then, there are millions of other works for entertainment to enjoy out there. It's not big loss to not enjoy something anymore.

The guy even admitted that it was a consensual transaction, making and watching the content. Right after arguing that he could rob people straight out of their enjoyment without them agreeing to it.

While also arguing that doesn't apply to things he finds bad in another medium. Also arguing there is a set objective meaning to objective, while also arguing that its meaning is subjective to what that person believes.

Thanks for what KZread is going to recommend now. I wonder how many points this video's title alone managed to drop my future social credit score. It seems like this guy's best argument would be, "I stopped critiquing anime because it made me feel bad to ruin people's enjoyment of it, and since I have no positive responsibility to argue against anime, I felt there were more productive, more pleasant uses of my time." I really want to see a first person shooter where all the hitboxes are 3 feet to the side of the model/ the camera.

2:37 There is a reason for this and its based in evolution. 1. Most people aren't thinking, not really. Thinking takes energy so if someone develops a shortcut to a conclusion that sounds "good enough" most people are willing to adopt that shortcut. 2. KZread and media creation is a breding ground for parasocial relationships. These parasocial relationships put the creator as the "leader" of the group and the watchers as subordinates. As a means of social psychology and evolution you as an individual are more likely to survive in a group than alone. So, even if they disagreed initially with the assessment, the psychology of humans is to acquiesce to the leader of the group, so people shift their positions to the leaders in order to maintain the structure of the group. This is why normal people in the Milgram Experiments are capable of doing obvious harm to other people, because someone of a leadership position told them to.

your claim that most people aren't thinking needs extrapolation. People have agency. Just because a lot have tuned themselves into a habit of acquiescing to others' opinions doesn't mean they are being controlled by an external source. They are neglecting to use their critical thinking by their own ignorance so they choose to fall prey. Also, I think streams/channels like EFAP encourage critical thinking through objectivism, but Mauler & co. nearly every stream mention the difference between liking a movie/show and rating it on an objective scale. At the timestamp you noted, Rags countered by pointing out that when critics/content creators set forth sound reasoning then others' agreement doesn't mean they are sheep. Just agreement to a valid argument which is different than an opinion.

Why do you keep saying I didn't have breakfast or lunch today?! What's wrong with you, you are being so disingenuous?! This convo but with food.
