You do realize that he couldn't make those sculptures entirely out of cake right? They would fall apart. The base is mad EOF cake and they bring sheet cakes to events when they're needed.

+Katarina Karacic you are right but,if the fondant is made with good recipe with great taste and most importantly if it is kept thin and the underneath coat of butter cream is pretty enough ,then its not that bad ..:)

I feel like a lot of people don't understand that the sculptures Buddy makes can't physically be made of actual cake. If they were they would fall apart before they were finished. They take sheet cakes to events because of that but they don't really expect people to take a mouthful of modeling chocolate and fondant and pretend its cake.

Thank you! I see so many comments complaining about his use of fondant and Rice Krispies for a majority of his cakes and they don’t understand that cake itself is not durable enough for all of these intricate elements that people want on their cakes.

Exactly, too much frosting makes is too sweet, and the fondant tastes weird. (and looks face in my opinion) I've always liked naked cakes, they look more natural and homey

This exposes so many bakers of hiding mistakes under blankets of fat, lard, sugar, and food coloring. That stuff is fading away because people don't want heart attacks or high cholesterol meds or bypass surgery, let alone diabetes. Naked cakes =live longer and healthier! 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉🎂

Honestly there's plenty in the middle. It's dryer than most cakes but the fruit adds enough moisture to balance.

The fruit would go good with the cake. The blackberries were intense.

I think I would prefer eating one of these to the ones covered and tons of sugar

The naked cake actually looks super home made and cute! As a kid my parents never really covered cakes in icing so this is cool!

I think I would love a naked cake because I hate when desserts choke you with icing but I also hate when desserts are so dry with very little icing.

I had a super-sized cupcake for my birthday and there was so much frosting on it, I nearly gagged. I like frosting, but when I want to eat a cupcake, I cut the cupcake in half and sandwich the frosting. Perfect.

Marie-Louise Yep. His cakes are usually too dark. As a cake decorator myself, I know that also means DRY. I NEVER need simple syrup on my cakes bc they are already moist. My cakes are a very light blonde color when baked. You can ever go see facebook.com/jennslittlehouse. If you'll look thru my photos, I have a couple different semi naked cakes and you can see the cake is light colored. Even the cover photo is one.

I can attest to that. Been in business 4 years and never eat cake anymore. When you see it, think it, smell it etc almost every day you stop eating it. The most I eat is to taste test new flavors or combinations. Lol

Naked cakes are delicious. I absolutely hate frosting, whipped cream and that playdoh crap that they call fondant, especially when it’s in excess on cakes, like I literally scape them off the cake before I eat the cake, but when it’s a naked cake, you just want enough filling between the layers to hold the cake together and have a nice mouthfeel, and you can taste the cake itself

A naked cake is a great way to assess if they can actually bake. He can't

What did you want him to put on it then? Like no icing no powdered sugar and no fruits? Did you just want him to slab cakes on each other? What concept would you think best suit a naked cake?

Honestly, I don't know how this man stays in business ... no eye for detail ... the cake looks over-done ... his arrangement is juvenile like a kid did it ... how is he so popular?

Never had fondant but from what I’ve seen and heard about fondant, I don’t really want to try it. And a lot of decorated cakes use a LOT of fondant and honestly it doesn’t look that appetizing because it’s 50% decorations and 50% cake. This cake right here is everything I would want in a cake. Simple, fresh, and beautiful ❤️ My jaw literally dropped at the end cuz it looked so beautiful and it’s literally just cake, cream, and fresh fruits.

I would have a slice of that cake with a lot of fruit sprinkled over it. The moisture would make the cake edible.

Love it!!! No fondant nor icing on it, it's perfect for me!!!

Some chefs commented on naked cake that it is faster to dry by the time and any kind frosting protect moisture for better taste.

I love me my frosting, but that cake looks absolutely gorgeous, not to mention delicious.

@@duckduckgoose526 - Duncan Hines cake mix + 3 eggs + salad oil + water. One hour of your time and you get a delicious cake. It's really, really, simple. I do it all the time. (So do millions of others.) You can do it, too, and if you don't want to, you know 20 people who will gladly do it for you.

Woody's fresh out of bar-tending school and told the guys he's eager to make all sorts of mixed drinks and exotic cocktails. The guys smiled and ordered beers. Woody rolls his eyes. Thank's my point - It's a waste of money and to hire a highly skilled, creative, experienced baker to make something you can easily bake yourself. If baking a cake doesn't appeal to you, your local grocery store sells them ready-made. I'm an old man, and I just had surgery a week ago. My doctor is a highly skilled, highly educated, highly experienced surgeon. You hire a guy like this to fix your heart. You don't hire him to cut your hair.

@@ROGER2095 i get what your saying but your last statement makes no sense and has nothing to do with this. A bakery is supposes to make cakes no matter the skill level. A doctor is supposes to help people that has to do with Health and body no matter their skill level, a bartender is supposed to make the drinks that a customer requests no matter the skill level. And i do get it could have been made at a local bakery but its a skilled baker they probably expected it to look ans taste better making it worth the money
