He was on his way down , Ajax to Juventus then to Fulham ,then you would imagine to a lower division club , then Ferguson pick him back up for just 2 million pounds at 35 , For me that's Ferguson's best ever bargain buy . At the time the best players were going for 30 million pounds and average ones were going for 15 to 20 million pounds.

These people do it on purpose. They only ever mention his work ethic so as to disguise an insult as a compliment. Notice that he used the word "forced", insinuating that Ronaldo has no right to be considered one of the greats. The truth is that Ronaldo has always been extremely talented, which is the very reason that he caught the eye of the biggest clubs at a young age, and these fools act as if Ronaldo has never been capable of being anything more than a goal scorer. They like to just ignore the first 10 years of his career because it doesn't fit their narrative.

Naturally talented is the most cliched term in modern football. There is no such thing!! it’s all learned skill/behaviour, a toddler isn’t naturally talented at football are they?? you have to teach them how to kick the ball dribble the ball etc etc…. Even Messi was thought to score goals as a child for a reward… one of his earliest coaches gave him a biscuit/cookie🍪 for every goal he scored that was reward and motivation to score more goals.

@@michaelinho7366 wrong, natural ability is definitely a thing but u think of it in the wrong way. Natural talent isnt just comin out the womb being able to beat past defenders. Natural talent is the ability to pick up certain skills at a very fast rate. Think of it like this, naturally smart kids are not just born with more info in their brains but through reading they get to know this information but the difference with them and normal kids is that they have a natural ability to remember most of that information, which makes them more book smart naturally. Its just like football, messi and ronaldo and all the other greats, picked up on the skills in football a lot quicker than normal and were able to perfect certain things at a faster rate.

Exactly, if it was just easy as to train hard, then many other forwards would score at least 40-50 goals per season, while we don't see guys scoring that much. There are probably less than 4-5 guys doing that and maybe even lesser. Deco speaks about that too in an interview, that he doesn't agree with people seeing he's been that good just because he trains hard. He's pretty skilled, of course in United one of the assistant coaches told him to don't loose time with too much dribbling and being more consistent in front of the goal. But he was a pretty good dribbler too before that, and still showed some times that he could get passed 4-5 guys and score or assist.

Bro c'mon .. Ronaldo worked so much harder than Messi. Evidence? 1. Ronaldo trained his dribbling technique extensively. People call it useless tricks, but that's just being ignorant. Step-overs are very effective to get past defenders (ask R9) & to do them around your top-speed is not easy. Plus given that Ronaldo is a pretty tall dude (at least he's above average here in the US), to even move his legs that fast would require a lot of training (fast-twitch muscle fibers). Whereas Messi never needed to learn those skills; his low center of gravity helps him to be elusive against opponents taller than him. Messi definitely trained his touch, but that's just not as physically demanding as learning all those techniques are. 2. His knuckle-ball free-kick technique. This is an unorthodox way of taking free-kicks and if you ask any footballer they'd tell you its the most difficult shot to learn. The fact that Ronaldo has 60+ scored using this technique is just insane. Whereas Messi uses the orthodox technique of taking free-kicks: curling. Sure this also takes training, but its learning-curve (no pun intended) is no where close to that of the knuckleball technique. 3. Jump-height. There's no one out there (at least right now) that can jump off the ground & hang in the air as long or as high as CR7 in football. The amount of drills (box jumps, squats, other forms of resistance training) he probably does to obtain that skill must be quite impressive.

@@Gio-m I’m not doing this man. I never said Ronaldo didn’t work hard (or harder than Messi). My point is that his hard work was not the only reason for his success, as many people try to portray. Both Messi and Ronaldo had an unbelievable amount of talent. Extremely unique footballers. Just because you think Ronaldo worked harder than Messi (and I’m not disputing that claim) it doesn’t mean that’s the reason Ronaldo was successful. Why people getting mad about other people praising Cristiano's hard work? They think when someone say you have less talent and more hardwork, is a bad thing. Talent is not nice. What's cool is hard work, things you put effort on, not things you are privileged to be born with.

This man is probably why I never really liked De Gea from the first day I saw DDG in the goal post. EVDS was so high-level, that when he stopped playing I could already see that United didn't really have a good GK anymore, and that awesome run of winning titles consistently was coming to an end. When you have a great GK, you can really just win tournaments that you have no right to win sometimes. They stop an obvious goal here, a penalty there, and that could be the difference between winning a tournament and just slightly missing out. And a good example is Argentina in the World Cup. People forget about the details, or maybe focus on Messi and the other goal scorers, but if Martinez wasn't as good a shot-stopper and PK saver like he is, Argentina would've been eliminated in the first shootout they had. De Gea is the opposite of that kind of keeper. He is just makeweight. But people like EVDS, Martinez, they actually give you an edge having them between the sticks.

Cristiano Ronaldo in the youth played at elite level since like the age of 11. Played for the national youth teams. Made his pro debut in 2002, became an international in 2003 and went to United in 2003. He was 18. => He was one of the most talented youngsters in Portugal. The thing is that he at first overestimates himself and then adapts => the hard work is especially one of trial and error and about being smart working around his limitations into the role of the most important individual => there was a clear desire to stand out as an individual and his passing game was his limitation because it was never above average.

I agree with everything but just disagreed with your last sentence's last part unless I misunderstood you. In his position, you will not expect a regista like passing although he has done that as well. Watch when Ronaldo played in certain matches close to CM position and how he threaded passes between the lines and aerial passes. I'm not even counting his passing strengths which he was great (not as great as he later became) from around 18 years of age only, like counter attacking one-touch passes, crosses (both aerial and ground, including with a lethal curve) and neat flicks while dribbling and passes after runs and dribbles close to defenders' feet. Additionally, he could not show more of his passing because except for Van Nistelrooy, he was always the main goalscorer. Benzema and Higuain was supposed to be his strike partner but they couldn't turn up in goalscoring department in the initial Madrid days as well (look how many good passes Benzema missed which Ronaldo used to give, you can get compilations after compilations). And, of course, he wants to take the shot himself often for his own goal scoring as well. He also did them both with both of his feet, a huge assest and that's why he played easily in RM, LM, LW, RW. Reasons like this is why he proved to be versatile later as well, because having all these different attributes help you to adapt to different situations and against better teams, hence the difference between his UCL KO stats and the next best player's UCL KO stats. It goes without saying he played in great teams as well.
