I think one of the smartest men in English history was Henry Seymour. While his brothers Edward and Thomas were ambitious, Henry accepted a few low level administrative posts, used his connections to become moderately wealthy, served Elizabeth as her High Sheriff for Hampshire, and died quietly at home at the age of about 74/75. Kept his head down and on.

Remember Edward was 9 years old when his Uncle became Lord Protector so it was a different role as Edward became more mature and started governing for himself he needed a Lord Protector who would become his minister to help him govern not govern for him like when he was 9.

@@AnnaBellaChannel When this happened in RL Edward VI was almost 12 his regency by law was suppose to last until he was 18 as Henry VII specified in the Succession Act and his will. One of the main duties of any sort a regency for a minor is to ensure the monarch is informed and practiced in his duties and obligations so they can rule independently when the regency ends. Of course often is did not occur regents prolonged regencies as much possible either official or unofficial by insuring their charges do not have the needed experience and knowledge and during that period used their power to benefit themselves and families not the state. Though far the worst both John Dudley and Edward Seymour demonstrate this behavior. At this point even if he were not King Edward VI would have began to formally train on how to rule a court by being given a household of his own with a trusted tutor and guardedly taking on more public duties and attending important meetings with advisors where he would been excepted to observe and later on as he grew older asked his opinion/POV. Edward VI is at the point needs to be allowed to take more power, but he still also needs guidance and criticism even adult Kings advisors for these reasons. Edward VI needs someone can remember they rule in his name, but can be critical and even say no when needed because they put him and state first not themselves. So yeah John Dudley is going to let Edward VI have more power or the illusion of it, but he will multiple times he far more concerned holding on to that power and gaining more then he is Edward VI's or England's well being

There were other ways to do it aside from yelling at him in front of his councilors which made the king look weak, and Seymour always desired the power of lord protector

Those in charge of making it said that it was titled Becoming Elizabeth, which meant the process into adulthood. There are other mini series about her relationship with her sister as Queen Mary I such as The Virgin Queen starring Anne-Marie Duff. there is also a mini series from the 1970s, and another one from the 80s titled Lady Jane Grey starring Helena Bonham Carter.

Yes, he was Robert's father. When the father was condemned in the beginning of Mary's reign, so was Robert, along with his brother Guildford, husband of Lady Jame Grey. But Robert was pardoned, crushed a subsequent rebellion, and rose to prominence, being created Earl of Leicester in his own right -- the Dukedom of Northumberland became forfeit to the crown when John was convicted of treason and thereby attainted. Ironically, Robert's grandfather was a financial minister of Henry VII, and was executed when Henry VIII came to the throne.
