Hi Lee, much troubled indeed. The human race seems incapable of learning from its mistakes. We live in a world where greed and dogma too often take precedence over compassion and understanding. Glad you enjoyed the video anyway. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Dear David, good evening. Your choice of art accompanying Grieg has transported me to an old forge that my dearest friend, who left this world so quietly 18 months ago, lived in. Inside the forge, time had almost stood still. My friend would often take up his fiddle and play and sing Morris tunes. The painting at 1.41 reminds me of sitting at a beautiful aged oak table, looking out of the window at the old walled garden. Thank you so much for this thought-provoking combination of gorgeous music and art. Harriet Backer's paintings are so beautifully charming. Best wishes to you. Zinnia

You have such vivid and beautiful memories Zinnia, I could be sitting at that old oak table with you. It's wonderful how evocative music and art can be. I'm glad you enjoyed this video, as I have a soft spot for Grieg's music. Some years ago my mother and I visited his home in Troldhaugen and were both affected by the atmosphere of the place. Hope you are keeping well, best wishes, David

Glad you enjoyed it Lee. I have a soft spot for Grieg's music, especially his Lyric Pieces. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Debussy wasn't overly impressed by them however, comparing them to pink bonbons. Best wishes.

Hello David. I've been a subscriber to your wonderful channel for a good while now. Every piece of music and every painting, are gems. Any idea how I could source any of these beautiful works of art please? Many, many thanks.

Hi Thomas and thanks for your support. I always source the paintings online using the name of the artist for an image search. If I don't have a particular artist in mind I will search using a phrase describing the type of paintings I'm after. For instance in this case I might have typed in "19th century Norwegian genre paintings". A site I have frequently found useful is Wikimedia Commons. A search for "Wikimedia Commons Harriet Backer paintings" would provide you with downloadable images of quite few of her works. Hope this helps. Good luck and best wishes.
