Edmund Pettus Bridge

John Lewis led a march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge on March 7, 1965. The day before, The Temptations achieved their first no. 1 record with "My Girl." While the nation was buying that record and singing that song, John Lewis risked his life by walking across that bridge on a planned march to Montgomery, AL. He and his fellow marchers were beaten severely, with life threaten-ing injuries. He recovered to later become a congressman and to lead the civil rights movement until his death on July 17, 2020. His body was taken over that bridge one final time, but his spirit continues to show the courage that he exhibited from his early years. Tom has been over that bridge a few times, and the energy deposited there and emotion that lives there continues to provide fuel and inspiration for generations . t
