I’m not really sure but there should be. It’s not confirmed but it seems that in most Edifier speakers the amplification process requires to digitize the input, so when you use the analog inputs you lose some quality and it’s better to just use the digital inputs directly. At least that’s the case in the lower end speakers, but as the S880DB is a more sophisticated speaker it may work different.

Witam. Mam pytanie.

These two are very, VERY close to each other on the mids. The R1850DB sounds a little bit wider. The bass on the "Retrowave" song sounds drier on the S880DB, not so good. The bass on the original track (I think those are JBL's) sounds just awful! Messy and muddy as it can be.

I'm not sure what to choose because I want to buy one of these sets. Is there a great difference in monitor or dynamic mode. I've a small bedroom 12m2 and I want a good speaker for amplifying my tv and stream blues, rock, pop, flacs over wifi over a chromecast audio which I can connect to this speaker. What do you recommend. In this video the R1850's have a little more oomph in the bottom but the S880 are in monitor mode. When in dynamic mode will they sound almost the same because I like the asthetics of the S880 better. Thanks

I agree with you. The original sounds messy and uninspiring. We in Holland can't compare this speakers anywhere in a store... I want to know if the classic, monitor, vocal, dynamic option works. One reviewer says it does but another reviewer says it is a marginal difference. I don't listen to house an dub step and such, so the bass is not the most important but it has to be tight with a little bit of body... The S880 is almost to sterile according to this video. I'm not sure what the range of the bass and treble pots are. I don't know that....It's the total sound picture that has to be right. Difficult...

@@marcohermans3207 Hey Marco. I run the 1850's on my desk in a similar sized room and they do a great job! They are a very enjoyable set of speakers with a lot of inputs and clear mid/highs. For their size, playing in a small room a strong bass. If you need to run down to 35 Hz (ish) you can always hook up a used active/powered subwoofer from Marktplaats. If you keep a daily eye on iBood, the R1850DB pass by for €99,- about once a month. Nothing can beat them at that price range. If you don't like them you can return them. And oh, they go really loud as well :)

If you have a good source and give the bas a 5%boost they sound really really good for the price for the 1850. even piano music or jazz, my subwoofer give it more total balance but on the their own they are very good and go deep thanks to dsp i think. you cant hear it on recordings most of the time. For the price, sub out and sound good with digital source. I had a set from 15000€, now 6000€. but i can enjoy the 1850 for an evening without subwoofer and that is great!
