    Edie is unique. So sweet and talented. I can see why Paul Simon fell in love with her. She's an old soul, and a natural beauty, and that winsome voice to go with it all including her gorgeous and subtle Texas accent. I'm really proud that she's from Dallas.

    wolfatnight - True, and it's genuine. The only other woman I've met that has thaw same quality is lying in bed, sleeping, next to me, my lovely wife of 24 years. And I've got a beautiful picture of her and Edie together (and my wife with Kenny Withrow, New Bo's guitarist, too 😜), truly beautiful. She was going to illustrate a book my wife wrote, but that got put on hold after Carter Albrecht got shot (R.I.P., Carter +++), not sure if it will ever come together at this point. But, maybe better, we've got two cards Edie drew for us (a dog and a goldfish), pen with colored pencil true treasures, one of a kind :D

    @@hlpimcnfsdl9715 I was born in 1952 so I remember far better times than when Windows 95 finally appeared. In my time back then, my generation was divided by people who really cared about other people, we actually really did like each other. However, the vast majority of my generation were what we described as bread-heads. They are the people who have turned this world into a place you would rather retreat back to another time from. We did warn but nobody listened, we knew exactly what these people were capable of and I despised them then as I freely admit I do know. We all knew they would devour everything that they desired, and as you can clearly see, they are still doing it now. I don't have any desire for earlier times as you do. I was blessed with a foundation of life that looks on this life for what it is and not for what it was or could be in the future. What is written, is written and so confusion doesn't exist in my reality which is the reality of the Ummah. You cannot change the world, but you can change yourself, I hope you make that attempt.

    I never heard this song from her...until just now. Absolutely beautiful. I have loved Edie since first seeing & hearing her, on New Bohemians world debut on Saturday Night Live in 1988 I believe. I have seen EBNB several times back in NY. Her & the entire band are the best musicians you can ever find. They should have made it REALLY big, but you the general public...they don't always notice what a musician, such as myself hears right away. I hope & pray they will tour again...before the world falls apart completely, as it is right now! Very sad times we are living in. Yes. I've always had a thing, for Edie. She is amazing! Such a voice...& beautiful inside and out. I've never met her...but would love to! She did reply back to a message on the internet, back around 2004/2005. She seemed totally cool. I last saw them on their "Stranger Things" tour, around 2005/2006. in Woodstock, at The Bearsville Theater. Man, what a show they put on!! I was in music heaven. Around a week later, I set out on one of my cross country adventures, in my brand new van. Just me...and the open highways & roads. I was on the road around 5 months. I had recently lost both of my parents...& I needed a long drive. A night in Joshua Tree, California...was the musical highlight of my trip. Anyway...such an awesome band, & Edie will always be the really excellent singer & song writer...from Deep Elum, Texas. I love her accent too. Something about a woman with a southern accent. My ex-wife is from North Carolina. I miss her dearly...& will shut up now. Peace.

    She said I tried to mind my own business But that sad look on your face was a challenge to my faith Made me wanna chase the dark out of your room So she smiled and said hello; little did she know He would take hold of her soul and never never never let go He was fine before he met her Eyes like faded jeans, soft and blue and he had seen Everything, and he had been everywhere Til he turned his gaze her way, longed to see it every day Heard a voice inside him say you'll never never never be the same Once in a while Once in a blue moon There comes somebody like you They got fire and they got fever He was more than fine; she was more than young And the orange setting sun was beautiful Ever so at ease, in the summer evening breeze They would talk and they would tease And never never never want to leave Once in a while Once in a blue moon There comes somebody There comes somebody like you

    Just perfect. She's so much more than just 'What I am' & 'Circle'. And that beautiful mouth. It's her trademark :). I've always loved her. Alternative, singer songwriter girl. I love 'em. There wasn't a whole lot of them in the mid 80's. Now they're dime a dozen. It doesn't matter though, most of them are pretty stinking good. Edie Brickell is kind of pioneer-ish I think, to all these newer girls. Not counting Regina Spektor, she's not like anybody. She just freaks me out. (in the best way) :)

  • @StopMoColorado

    @StopMoColorado

    7 жыл бұрын

    Anthony Minsky - Regina Spektor rode the Kate Bush/Tori Amos train into town, buddy, she's really not "all that", and isn't a speck on Edie's backside. Freaky...kind of, in a Sophia Apple, contrived/trying-too-hard kind of way, I suppose, but has almost none of the grace, charm, or sweetness that Edie has. Really, in person, she's just as sweet as she seems in videos, very kind, very gentle, very feminine, loves her family, super genuine. Wish I could say the same about Spektor. At least she's actually singing these days instead of shrieking so much, I'll give her that. But not much more.
