I have myself also always found edge leading to superior to trailing as it cuts the burr off versus causing metal fatique to snap it off

agreed, flipping the burr _may_ weaken the burr but certain steels are resistant to breaking off thru weakening, one can flip the burr all day long back and forth without breaking it off haha. edge-leading is the way to go, sure. for removing micro burr on the Edge Pro Apex i like edge-trailing strokes with a strop. a paper tape strop with a fast cutting compound (e.g. the WHITE compound) is just perfect for removing any kind of burr, preferably microburr. any owner should have at least tried the PTS method by kreisler (erh that's me haha)

Hey, I was looking at your PTS post on BF's and a lot of good info and very interesting for sure! I have used quite a bit in the past Scotch brand delicate painters tape (lavender stuff) and seems to work quite well with diamond paste.

Edge leading 100% faster... I usually remove the burr using the stone that created it, taking care to wash the metal off the stone as the burr breaks apart. 3 - 4 stones later we have a screaming mirror edge. I finish with edge trailing strokes. Thanks for the video. : )

I have found that doing a trailing pass (the side the burr is on) and this draws/pulls out the burr, then flip the blade and do edge leading and that 'eats'into the burr, of course it takes several passes.. Lol I hate burrs they are annoying, I sharpen my own straight razors, and of course I don't use the 'burr method' while shapening but it happens. I only use a Belemo 10x on sit under good lighting and it will show up if it's there, and most of the time that little bitty white line can be seen.. some fellows think if you use a strop loaded with compound you are cheating, imo that is the only way to get 99% of the burr gone.. IMO a strop just takes you were your stones can't, as far as refinement, stropping with compound is the same as 'sharpening'..

Wondering if a few pulls through the wine cork method might help after the edge trailing only passes?

    Probably wouldn't hurt. :-)
