@@sktzn6829 Yeah Haba Haba is good (still can't believe it didn't qualify) but it's something you'd hear more from other regions in Africa like Kenya while East African countries like Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia have a certain sound to their music that Feker Libi captures very well while also fusing it with Middle Eastern elements.

Some context about this song: Eden is an Ethiopian Jew, one of the most unique, rich in culture, and underrepresented Jewish communities in Israel. The song's name, Feker Libi, means "my heart's love" or "my heart's desire" in Amharic, the language spoken in Ethiopia. During the chorus, Eden sings the same sentence in Arabic (حبيب قلبي - Habib Al'bi) and Hebrew (אהוב ליבי - Ahuv Libi) followed by אותך אני אוהבת (Otkha Ani Ohevet) meaning "You are the one I love." In this performance, Eden looks like she's just having a ton of fun with the singing and dancing. Tons of smiling and her facial expressions show she's enjoying herself. It's not just "another day the office". I love Israelis due to many reasons, one of which is their ability to make anything positive or fun!

Eden said that Set me free put her talent first while Feker Libi put her roots first and that is absolutely right. However, Eurovision is all about roots and diversity and this song would have done brilliantly and ranked much, much better than Set me free did.

This might just be speculation on my part but I don't think her ranking had anything to do with her or the song, but simply because of what is going on in Israel rn. She got almost no points from the public vote, so yeah.

@@teukka623 everyone in my household thought the song was an absolute bop and we thought she might win. So for us it was a shock when she got nothing from the public vote. Even loco loco got more televoting points, to me that was a truly meaningless song and performance. It did absolutely nothing for me.

@Teukka agree with @Julie. MOST EUROVISION SONGS ARE NOTHING SPECIAL. So 2020 was game changing good, and 2021 was not a special song, but her voice was far better than in both songs-- including 2021's many nothing special "whatever" songs that got more votes. Seriously, look at the competition-- nothing special is the norm at Eurovision.

There is no such thing as “looking” Israeli. Israel started out with a majority of Ashkenazi Jews, but has always been ethnically diverse, more so now. Currently close to half the country is Mizrahi or mixed, Israeli Arabs make up around 20% of the population, and there is a still small Ethiopian community. Eden was born in Israel and has Israeli citizenship, therefore she is Israeli even if she does not fit your picture of an Israeli person.

Sadly, I think this song was a MUCH stronger entry than the one she's sending this year :// I loved this song, it really stuck out and caught my attention every time I heard it, but this year's entry is too mainstream imo.. we'll see how she does in the semis tho 😮

I'll tell you why this song should win. Eurovision is all about bringing your ethnicity and your country's culture to the song in the contest. And Israel definatly does that in Feker Libi. Israel is a Westen-modern country, so there's a pop music in there. And Israel is a mediterrenian country, so there's an orient-arabic music there. And the singer is from an Ethiopian family, so there's an African groovy beat in the song. And it is all combined so beautifully in such harmonic way. After hearing the other songs in the contest, Feker Libi is like... An ice cream in the summer: Cool, sweet, refreshing, different, energetic and... Just fun! I hope Eden will win, she deserves this sooooo much.

One of the song writers (and composers, they did both) had two albums of Ethiopian vibe music, and he's famous in Israel for his ethnic music. He knows what he's doing... And Eden delivers.
