I discovered the movie as a teen! And yet when you were in middle school it’s the last simpler times in one’s life.

I was born in Austria when I was a baby my father was killed in the war and this was his favorite song my mom used to sing it to me and say your papa loved the song Edelweiss about a beautiful flower that grows on the top of the mountain and every time I hear this song makes me cry because I wish I had my dad who never had the privilege to raise me nor have I had the privilege of knowing him only through the stories my mom would tell me about him... He was only 23 and I was just 6 months old.. War changes so many people's lives some for the worst in some for the better but this I think how would it be if I still lived in Austria it looks so beautiful from the photos I see

I was born in the Soviet Union and when I was 8 years old with my parents we saw in cinema Sound of music movie. Since I was a kid, I have liked all songs from this movie. For 12 years, I lived in British Columbia, Canada, where same mountains, which are similar to Alps .Sometimes, walking in the Rocky Mountains I saw a small blossom of Edelweiss. I wish all people peaceful and nice lives. May God have the same spirit as Edelweiss .

Servus! Anyone here in 2022? I have been watching this film since my childhood. From India here! My family (especially my mom) loves this region of the world. My father took us on a trip to Austria 10 years ago. My mom's happiness knew no bounds when I did a surprise visit to Salzburg this summer and put her on a video call. Nothing changed, lovely rich nature. Had some lovely chats with locals. Will surely return again, with my family who knows; I feel a very deep connection to this country. I listen to this song every week :)

She’s the number one reason I first watched the movie!

One of my dads favorite songs. I played it the moment he passed away at home. Today is his birthday so , I am playing it here for him. Than you for all you do and did.

When I heard this song Edelweiss the first time in 1970 as a senior high school student in Taiwan, I saw this beautiful flower in the film Sound of Music, I fell in love with it right away with my full body and soul, and I cried silently for its purity and calmness . Now I saw it again here on my laptop at 68 as a retired professor in 2020, I am still deeply touched by the same flower with the angel-like song sung by the angel-like Julie Andrews. How much better this world would be if it were full of the peace and beauty as inspired by Edelweiss! So I pray to God to realize that vision everlastingly. Thanks for sharing.

It's a beautiful flower, they say the men of the alps used to climb the mountains in search of an edelweiss to bring to their lovers. World peace would be an excellent thing but I do fear it will never happen, the world just seems so bleak at times

The Sound of music has built in inspiration along with 😅song writer and tune writer, Oscar and Richar. This musical is all time and all generations bind all together in love and peace. The songs every one of them live in my heart be humming or teaching lyrics of them as I sing along with anyone around me. Each song makes me alive, happy and meaningful in trials of life. This song brings back so many memories. It was the soundtrack that my elementary school used for lunch break in each classes bell 15 years ago. We would wait every minutes and every seconds everyday just to hear this played so we can enjoy our lunch break and play together with other friends. Now i'm 23 years old, settled and all by myself, but i would kill just to go back to this wonderful times where we don't have to pay bills and have lots of responsibilities. Julie Andrews what a masterpiece!
