Eddy’s reputation as being a masher goes all the way back to the arcade days. I remember every noob played eddy and just mashed out mid low mixups. Easy to beat when you knew what to do but it worked on at least 75% of Tekken players in the arcades

@@brmblazer clearly American arcade players were 75% noobs then. Heheh I don't get it. Doesn't matter where you play eddy was easily beatable since t3. I remember people getting annoyed because I always blocked the slippery kick like they thought I was cheating.

Recently I played Eddy with great movement and clean punishes. It was beautiful. Like witnessing a unicorn. I wasn't even mad when i lost like 15 games against him.

Kuddos for caring enough to learn how to speak (mostly) the words in Portuguese. I thought it was really well done. Only the word "vermelho" came out wrong. The -lho doesn't have a /h/ sound in English or /j/ sound in Spanish, it's actually a mixture of /l/ and /y/ in English (ver-me-lyo). Anyway, well done and excellent attention to detail, as always.

The same applies to folha (ataque), while calcanheira the "nh" sounds more like the spanish "ñ"; Igor explained it perfectly, good job, sir.

Thank you for the overview! Eddy's acrobatic capoeira move-set and combos are simply beautiful! I wouldn't have known of this martial art if it wasn't for Tekken!

We Eddy players deserve more respect.

We've been blessed to have such a wonderful showcase of Eddy's through T7's tournament life. I may not get to face Eddy's very often, but I do enjoy the moments when I do. Whether flowchart, or meticulous in nature. Very interesting character, to this day.

I felt the same when Lei and Marduk weren't there.

Recently a friend of mine got tekken so im starting to get back into the game, and alas, one of my favorite tekken channels when i was into it blessed me with an overview of my favorite character, what a wonderful sight

Excellent video.. i don't play eddy anymore. Well maybe just on occasions. But he is the O.G of tekken. I'm sure this character was the one that put most ol school players on tekken. Including me.

9:21 f23 is now +10 on hit making the 2 extension uninterruptable. I'm not an eddy main but having an armor move (1 extension), an uninterruptable and safe mid poke (2 extension), another safe and high damage mid poke (4 extension), launching low ([34] extension), and underblockable grab (3+4 extension) is pretty good for a 12f punish

Are you happy that Eddy was chosen instead of Christie, or would you have preferred them to axe Eddy in favor of Christie? Legitimate question here.

I'm not sure wether this question is directed at TBS or all the tekken players in here. If so ignore my comment but if not then here's my opinion haha: I've personally always prefered Christie over Eddy. Her story was always a bit whack tbh but I've always loved her upbeat and positive spirited attitude. She was like little Miss Sunshine. Even with her dark past and present she remains joyful and was equally cool/chill as well as sexy. She was visually also always one of the most beautiful females in the series and that has to say something(than again it's my opinion of course). Considering that she has replaced Eddy in all spin off games including SFXTKKN, T-Revolution and even Tekken mobile she has pretty much evolved into a true legacy character. Therefore, not seeing her in T7 feels extremely weird to me. I know that making her part of as Season Pass would not make many people buy her since she's almost identical to Eddy in terms of playstyle but I personally would buy her as a separate character. That way people wouldn't have to spend their money on a clone and still take the full joy out of the Season Pass and Christie stans could buy her separately.

i think the capoera style suits a female character better. but if they bring back christie or have them both in the next game i think there should be significant differences in gameplay between the two.

I like Eddy because he's the original and I've been playing since Tekken 1. But I like Christie because her personality seems more positive and fun and she's better to look at.

I think Eddy is cool and I especially like his T7 costume, but Christie is the more endearing character imo.

My god. So, when it comes to sidestepping, Eddy is no different from my Bears. Thus, you need to master his backdash movement. New important point I learned from this video is the fact that many of his moves are leanier to sidestep right👍👍👍 Gosh, you can't even sidestep Noct's ORA!

For some more linear moves he does have some options - for example he can use b1+2 which has a built in sidestep to the right, and a few other moves that allow him lateral movement, though they still need to be timed correctly.

I just picked up Tekken and was drawn to Eddy cuz he’s a bboy. I didn’t even know his history as a masher favorite but I’m not surprised 😂

Been playing with Eddy since Tekken 3 all the way to Tekken 7, and btw Negativa and Bananeira (RLX - HTP) have a stepped command, but nobody ever uses it because it's way too risky, but useful nonetheless.

@blasted I miss watching your old reviews, they were more detailed. I watched your reviews because you use to have set ups and other techy stuff.
