I do it a little different, but the results are the same. I love comparing notes! I still remember the day i figured it out in 1983, and called up our bass player. I used to get a great sound with a Fender Twin, I found a Variac in the dumpster at work and also would use the reverb channel as an overdrive by bypassing the pan.
