Eddie Van Halen, Steve Lukather, Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey Live 4 Jason REMASTER Vid w Soundboard

In 1996 a very special concert took place in honor of the incredible musician Jason BECKER, on this occasion a supergroup composed by Eddie VAN HALEN, Steve LUKATHER, Billy SHEEHAN & Pat TORPEY gave an exceptional concert! Here's the video testimony of this unique live performance on which I synchronized the sound coming from a soundboard and I mixed (as I could :) with the sound of the camera.
I hope you'll enjoy this unique testimony in honor of Jason. After the concert I added the outstanding footage of Edward visiting Jason at home which shows all the humanity and kindness of all these fabulous people!!! Eddie, Jason and all your family, you are a truly great human beings!!!
Rest in peace Eddie & Pat.

No one is, or ever has been greater than Steve Lukather. Too bad people don't realize that they may not know the name, but they know the songs, Rosanna and Africa. Of course, he is considered an unsurpassed studio musician, having played that role since age 18 with most of the biggest names ever to record! To be a studio musician requires the greatest of skills as you're playing with not one band, but many. He is the crème de la crème! Give him his due!

Its just pure, you notice he’s not really defining the chord changes through his soloing like Luke. Theres nothing worked out or thought of what notes to land on to resolve it, he's just winging it.

incredible how a cult of personality and egos will make people excuse others' actions and die as a saint... everyone has "demons" in this life we live, that doesn't excuse eddie van halen from scamming money out of his bandmate bass player and excluding him out of songwriting rights... having "demons" is no excuse for being an asshole... speak by yourself

Luke really supports, and brings out the best in Ed......It goes the other way too! They should have put out more music using this lineup!! Could'a, should'a...etc.. Man I miss Ed so much! I know I am just Joe Blow from Ida'a Know......haha's

Eddie has a bit of the Hendrix at Woodstock feel in 'Fire' , during the chorus. Even though he wasn't a fan, it's cool hearing Ed play Jimi's music. Nice sound!

Eddie Van Halen is the ultimate expression of everything that 'rock & roll' is, was and always will be about. As a pre-teen hard core Jimi Hendrix fan, it took my younger brothers time to introduce Van Halen to my mind. For me it has always been about who is worth going out of my way to see perform live. The first concert I went to was 'Black Sabbath' in 1972. Alice Cooper for years until the 'Muscle of Love' tour. Ted Nugent a bunch of times. My most memorable concert moment was seeing 'Alvin Lee' and "Ten Years Later", his awesome band formed after the ending of 'Ten Years After'. When they actually played 'I'd Love To Change The World' it was like tripping on 'acid'. Eddie seems to have mastered the electric guitar in ways that cannot be equaled or surpassed.

All these comments giving praise to these people have no clue obviously for Jason Becker and the praise that he should have adorn. Had he not got sick I wonder where Eddie would be on the list. Nothing against Eddie Becker was phenomenal.

Luke is almost as underrated as Schon. So versatile. I think he is a little like Bonamassa in that he can so accurately assimilate tones & styles that he doesn't have his own identifiable style.

@@Lance37a That whole band is off their rocker , lately. There is some footage of Neil jamming with Sammy Hagar in the late 70s , and along with the performance of Little Wing on Paul Rodgers Hendrix Set , there isnt much he can do now to make me forget how incredible that dude can play.

This is a nice gem to stumble across while going down a yt music rabbit hole. Very cool to see Ed tearing it up on Little Wing , I Want You (She’s So Heavy, and Fire, and also easing back to play rhythm during Luthaker’s solos, Sheehan on vox during Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love, and there’s a great moment towards the end of Fire, where Ed & Sheehan are trading virtuoso licks while still laying down enough of the rhythm & chords for Steve’s solo. They are facing each other right in front of Torpeys drum riser, who is keeping the frantic music from nearly going off the rails, driving it just close enough to the edge for the talent on stage to shine. Four pros, at the end of a long tribute show, just doing what they do best, and putting on a great performance for the family, friends, and loved ones of Jason Becker. Doesn’t get much better than this, for the type of show it was. Also, nice clip added at the end of Ed visiting with Jason. Thx for sharing this content, EY3ZZ.
