Theres Always a spot for any music. Everybody is so concerned with what they look like. Maybe that's what's wrong these days. What about what they sound like and how the music makes you feel . That's all that matters !

I, too, abhor the label "hair metal!" I prefer to identify "those" bands as Sunset Strip Metal.

The way they dressed and some of the sounds were piss poor aesthetically. Should have went for more of a punk look to survive.

@@samhouston1979 Depends on what type of music you're talking about. Glam rock acts like the New York Dolls, Sweet, David Bowie, Elton John, ect..certainly had an outlandish image but they didn't have MTV to showcase them around the clock, Their music still came first and their image was only regulated to onstage performances and magazine photos. As far as 70s hard rock/heavy metal acts go, there wasn't much of an image. The only ones who had an image was Alice Cooper and Kiss, and their image was more of a "shock" value. 80s rockers just dressed up like women and every band looked pretty much the same, mainly because of MTV. And the music, while it wasn't bad, the lyrical content just didn't hold up. Partying and banging women was pretty much what most of the songs were about, or you had the sappy power ballads. Some of those bands are not taken to seriously.

I still hear a lot of 80s stuff on the radio. There’s good and bad from every era in my opinion let’s stop shaming others for what they like and just enjoy the music grunge isn’t Eddie’s cup of tea and that’s fine.

Idk I still hear Round and Round a d Still of the night on the radio, PLENTY of motley crue, definitely hear Poison on the radio, twisted sisters big hits are played, I feel like cherry pie gets played a lot too. What more do you want, there's more music they're only gonna play the biggest songs, and there is other music to be played. Oh also Def Leppard has like 10 songs that get played every day.

I grew up on this stuff through the 80’s and 90’s and still stay relevant in what they're up to. But to be honest although great musicians, the “hair look” went out by the 90’s. Add 20-30 years and 30 pounds to a guy still trying to pull off “the look” and I think it takes away from their intent of trying to be taken seriously. I'm a huge fan of this music as a guitarist but I often wish I didn't have to look at a guy in his 60’s-70’s stuffed in spandex with a wig or a Kelly hanging out of leather pants. I would relate much more if I'm looking at a musician my age, dressed like a normal guy, playing songs I like. Other than the Crue’s and Leps of the biz hair metal ended that era as a bad word and I think it just contaminated the pool for all of genre. I still love it and always will but I do wince when these guys my age are still trying to pull off a look that just wont work. I mean imagine yourself stuffing into leather pants wrapping a bandana around a wig or dying your thinning hair jet black, going out into the world to be taken seriously. It won't happen. In this world where everyone is judged on youth, beauty, popularity and social relevance.

Stop, there's not a bias. If there was a demand, we'd hear it on the radio. Few guys I know in their 50's listen to what they listened to in their teens and 20's.

Rocky 1987 - At no time in radio history have radio stations had better data to make programming decisions. New (hair) metal isn't a money maker. Let's be honest, rock radio never ventured past the singles after 1980 or prior. I'm hoping some public station will start playing this non-commercial music.

Uh.. no… the radios don’t play the music to start with therefore you don’t hear or know about it unless you’re following the band on social media. So yeah there can’t be a demand because most people don’t even know about it.🤷‍♂️

Glam metal and 90’s alternative rock were polar opposites when you look at it. One was too silly and cheesy, while the other was too dull and depressing. I like bands that take a middle of the road approach. Hard rock that’s energetic and fun, but not too stupid or too serious. Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Guns N’ Roses are good examples. I’m open to debate.

I never found Dokken to be "cheesy" in terms of the MUSIC (forget the hair styles or videos). Honestly in any rock genre there are good, average, and bad bands anyway. Fourth rate bands in any genre suck.

It’s a matter of perspective just because you think they suck doesn’t make it so. Not all hair music was bad even if it was cheesy and goofy skid row, dokken, queensryche ,Tesla,Ozzzy Osbourne, guns and roses, etc all had great music.
