The definition of classic rock is quite simple: every hit rock song released before September 1991 is classic rock. Every new rock song released after September 1991 is modern rock unless it's from a rock band that had hit songs prior to 1991.

I was 17 in 1987 & remember many times for diff bands music waiting in line all night to be at the record store as soon as the doors opened to get an album on the day it released for sale and even waiting in line overnight to get concert tix as soon as they went on sale, God it was so much fun hanging in line w/ 200 other crazy folks for 24 hrs sometime more lol good times, then concert night show up 10 hrs early to the venue & take off running to fight for the floor & almost get trampled, all tix were general admission back then and usually $35 or so lol 🤘🏻🥰

Remember waiting in line early to get in a concert just to get on the floor and closest to the stage? Now you have to pay 5 grand just to get in the first 4 rows. Those days are gone mainly because the band's don't make money from their music because of illegal downloading. But I think the artists take it a bit to far also.

I disagree w/ Eddie about radio bypassing 80's hard rock for 70's & 90's music. Classic rock radio plays plenty from that era. The problem is, they play only the mega-selling artists as do they play the mega-selling artists of 70's and 90's. It may not be the deep cuts (i.e. they'll play "You Don't Know What You Got Til It's Gone" vs. "Once Around The Ride", both by Cinderella) that people love (love even more, in most cases) and most are numb to the burned out hits that are played on the radio. Whitesnake, G-N-R, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Skid Row, Cinderella, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Poison, Scorpions, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Great White, Night Ranger, Lita Ford, Autograph, David Lee Roth, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, KISS, etc. and so forth are played to death on classic rock radio. You may hear "Heaven" or "Down Boys" by Warrant, "Seventeen" by Winger and/or "Don't Close Your Eyes" by KIX every once in a while but for the most part, the former bands I listed get most love when it comes to classic rock radio. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a Sleeze Beez song to play, though. LOL

Music didn't end in 1986, Eddie. More like 1997 when the last important "new" music movement (hip hop) ate itself the same way 80's metal did. Hasn't been anything important since.

Same with concerts used to be fun with all the pot smoke in the air, that was the thing you knew you were at a concert, when i did go to a lot of concerts , in the 70s 80s, some 90s, and 2000's. with Pot being legal here, not so unique anymore, Eddie mentioned about how he plays new music from classic rock artists? how does he do that? don't the managers?? of the station, say anything, or even know anything about that? or care? or don't care> I have always said lots of these bands have new songs well a few anyways and they never get played. Classic Rock is not old fashioned, in the sense of playing the same old crap, insteading of either playing the non hits, and or moving up a decade and start playing maybe some 80s, or even late 60s, maybe taking a chance of playing Progressive Rock?? or is that a Dirty Word???? lots of great points, being a bit older than Eddie i know a fair amt of the music business, not even working there, but doing alot of reading, and viewing interviews, and caring about the era in general, we are the Generation that cares about History of Music, and or the past, and some of the future.
